We had the good fortune of connecting with Zoey Boutte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zoey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Back then, working for other people or companies just never felt right for me—I always knew it wasn’t what I truly wanted. The last job I held before starting my own business was at an after-school program, and it was actually the longest I had ever stayed with a company. But when COVID-19 hit, I was laid off. I’m not the type of person who can sit around without making any kind of income, so I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own business as a lash technician—and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey as a lash technician has been nothing short of a blessing but it definitely didn’t come easy. What sets me apart is not just the quality of my work, but the genuine care and attention I give to every single client. I strive to create a peaceful, welcoming space where people not only leave feeling beautiful but also cared for.

I got to where I am today through a lot of trial and error, faith, and determination. Starting out, I had moments of doubt and frustration, especially learning how to balance everything on my own. But I refused to give up. I stayed consistent, kept improving my craft, and remained focused on my goals. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success doesn’t happen overnight patience and persistence are key.

I want the world to know that my brand is built on authenticity, passion, and purpose. My story is about taking a leap of faith and betting on myself. I turned a setback—being laid off during COVID into an opportunity, and now I’m living in the results of that decision. My goal is to continue growing, evolving, and inspiring others to chase their dreams, no matter how hard it may seem.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, God has guided me through every step of this journey, and I’m beyond grateful for His grace and favor. My family and friends have also been my biggest cheerleaders—offering love, support, and encouragement through every high and low. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without their presence in my life. Their constant love, support, and encouragement have meant everything to me. From motivating me on the tough days to celebrating my wins with me, they’ve played a huge part in my journey. I truly wouldn’t be where I am without them.
