I’m born and raised in Houston, Tx with Dominican parents, being raised in a Dominican household has definitely been a huge impact my parents always made sure I knew the values of being a true Dominican although living here in the United States. I am a chilean/texan filmmaker based in Austin TX.
I was born in Austin in 1987, but at the age of 4 I moved with my family to Santiago de Chile, where I lived for 30 years. I remember when I was a kid I did not feel “100% chilean” because I was born in the USA and at the same time I neither felt “100% american” because I started to live great part of my life in Chile and maybe that could explain why I always have had a strange need of escaping from reality. I’m from Houston, Texas, and I truly believe that being raised here has shaped so much of who I am today. Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the country, and growing up surrounded by so many cultures gave me a deep appreciation for people, perspectives, and connection.
