We had the good fortune of connecting with Ervin Cordero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ervin, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m born and raised in Houston, Tx with Dominican parents, being raised in a Dominican household has definitely been a huge impact my parents always made sure I knew the values of being a true Dominican although living here in the United States. As a Dj I think it’s one of the main things that have made me stand out in the Latin industry.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing is ever easy, I’m definitely not where I want to be I have ways to go, but from djing house parties with iPods to djing venues with over 5k people in attendance I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned this industry is very dark and not everybody is your friend I’ve also learned that the is industry could bring you good people in your life as my best friends today are also Dj’s with me, I also believe that what has kept me in the loop is me not losing my identity being me always and sticking to my roots.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I’m very Dominican so if you’re in Houston I will probably take you to my Dominican spots to hangout which are Monarca bar & grill or maybe La Casa Del Mofongo where you will find authentic Dominican food good drinks and good vibes. Also although I’m not a fan of our hometown team the astros I am a huge fan of baseball so might take you to hangout at a baseball game which are always fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A lot of people I want to thank that have been part of my growth as a Dj. First and more important I want to thank God without him nothing is possible. My parents who have always gave me unconditional support, my brothers Los Necios Productions, Chuly Music, Dj Geraldo, Empire Mike those are just a few names of people who have always believed in me, and thanks to them I was able to be in this music industry.
