Meet Taylor West

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor West and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
**“Being artistic and creative has always been a passion of mine. Looking back, art has always been an outlet—whether it was drawing, painting, or doing makeup. When I knew I needed a change in my career, I thought, what better way than to pursue something I truly loved?
Originally, I thought I’d just become a makeup artist, but while researching, I discovered aesthetics. Honestly, at the time, I didn’t fully understand what a facial really was—I just thought of it as something pampering. But I’d struggled with acne myself, so I was immediately drawn to the idea of helping others through both beauty and skin health.
What I love most now is how much creativity the treatment room allows. Each client brings something different, and that gives me the chance to get creative with how I approach their skin—it never feels routine.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Licensed Aesthetician. Pro Makeup Artist. Your Go-To Girl.
It’s wild to think about how far I’ve come—because honestly, most days I don’t feel like I’ve “arrived.” And No, it has not been easy. What I do know is that I’ve built this business through grit, love, and a whole lot of trusting myself.
I’ve pretty much always been a single mom, and for a long time I didn’t think something like this was possible. I was stuck in jobs that paid the bills but didn’t feed my soul. Eventually, I took a huge leap—I moved my family back home to where I had support, and I started over.
That journey taught me some of the hardest (and most beautiful) lessons:
✨ Trust yourself—like, really trust yourself.
✨ Don’t let other people’s opinions drown out your inner voice.
✨ Get out of your own damn way.
I’ve always believed that what sets me apart isn’t just the services I offer—it’s me. My energy, my care, my realness. Whether you’re here for a facial, makeup for a big day, or just a quiet moment to be cared for, I’m your girl. I’m a call away. I’m pulling up. I’m here for you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say best friend let’s get to googling. I’m mostly a homebody, but I do love to get out and try new food and go places. I would say let’s hop on Instagram and look at my favorite followers pages that have foodie post and go there. I love everything about a good park. I always want to go to Memorial but hardly make it out there. I stay more in my surrounding areas, Rosenberg & Richmond area. Oh! I love to try new coffee shops and explore small businesses. Block House coffee Is a fav.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom deserves a lot of credit. Not only has she mentored me, supported me, loved me and encouraged me all along the way. Most of all she has inspired me. She’s always been a baddie. Lol I know that’s not professional, but she always has been. She’s always pulled her boots up and did what she had to do. She’s always gone above and beyond. She’s owned several businesses. She’s the reason I fell in love with make up. Also, she was kind of my first understanding of self-care, even though as a child I didn’t realize it was self-care. She always had those little popping oils by the bath. She kept her nails done and her hair done.
