Meet Erin Thole

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Thole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, is there something you believe many others might not?
We really live in a society that is taught to be reactive instead of proactive with their health. I see it every day. Clients come to me struggling with their health for years and they have been told time and time again by their medical doctor that “everything is normal on their lab work”.
People are routinely told that their symptoms and conditions are just a “normal part of aging”. That they need to just “learn to live with it” or take – fill in the blank prescription to help with the symptoms or whatever label (diagnosis) has been put on them but the root of the issue is never addressed. They are just given bandaids and frustration.
The words normal and common are not synonyms. Every day I teach people how to take back control over their own health. How to interpret the symptoms their body is sending them and get to the root of what these symptoms actually mean. Symptoms are just the body’s way of communicating with us that something is wrong. It’s my job to figure out what those symptoms mean for each individual client.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been working in Natural Healthcare for over 17 years and I have never stopped learning because I believe that knowledge is power. Science is ever evolving and in order to be the best practitioner I can be I have to stay on top of the science so I can offer my clients the best solutions to their health and wellness concerns. I am currently working on my Naturopathic Doctorate on top of my independent research in the area of Functional Medicine.
What sets me apart from others in my field is that I take a well rounded approach to healthcare. I’m not hyper focused on the physical symptoms. I find this can create a lot of road blocks in the journey to reaching total health. We have to address all contributing factors to health – including the emotional and the mental with the physical.
Many practitioners just focus on the the physical complains because these are the things that are really starring the client in the face, they are the day to day struggles that they want to go away. And rightly so! But recommending a bunch of supplements to remedy symptoms is the same as a medical doctor prescribing a bunch of medication to cover the symptoms. It doesn’t get to the root of the issues!
Yes, there is a time and a place for supplements and I do use them in my practice. But I have to be methodical and purposeful with those recommendations as we work on the deeper stuff – the emotional and mental blocks that are potentially keeping a person stuck physically.
As examples, this could be chronic stress that’s triggering digestive issues, hormonal imbalances and insomnia or unresolved trauma that is keeping a person in fight or flight and causing breakdown in the body. You can’t supplement that away. We have to go deep and look at all the angles affecting each individual client and create a 3 dimensional program that will help uproot the physical symptoms along with the emotional and mental triggers to dysfunctional health. In this approach we find long term and lasting results.
I am a practitioner who is deeply invested in her clients. I pour my heart and soul into each of my clients’ programs. Working hard to create a wellness program that is customized to their individual needs, struggles, health history, goals and lifestyle. I take an extensive health history review of each client and we also do Functional Medicine lab work that is extremely in depth and comprehensive so we can get to the root cause of whatever ails them once and for all.
Each client is like a new puzzle. Not one is like the other. It is my job and life’s passion to figure out how the pieces all fit together so I can help guide each client back to total and complete health.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was in town I’m guessing she would also bring her kids with her so our kids could hang out. We would definitely hit up some of the amazing museums in Houston – Children’s Museum, Museum of Natural Science, etc. And also The Woodlands Children’s Museum.
We would also let the kids run around and get their energy out at May Valley Splash Pad and Park in The Woodlands and take them to William Goodrich Jones State Park off 1488 in Conroe so we can connect with nature and let them explore in the woods. This is one of our favorite places.
We may also do a couple farm days so we can get some animal cuddles in at Rose Therapeutic Farm out in Brookshire and The Good Vibe Farm in Tomball. We absolutely love these farms.
Of course we need some mom time to decompress. So we would get a babysitter and visit some of my local favorite Restaurants: True Food Kitchen if we wanted something more casual or Trulucks for something a little more fancy. Both in The Woodlands.
Moms also need to decompress with some yoga and gym time so I would take her to my favorite yoga spots: either The Woodlands Yoga Studio for a hot yoga class or Saha Yoga House in Tomball to get grounded and centered. If we are in the mood to throw around some weight we would go to my second home at Redefined Fitness in Spring off 2920.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be were I am today without the help of my first mentor in Natural Healthcare, Heidi Neubauer, Naturopath. I knew I wanted to work in the field of Natural Health and Heidi took me under her wing hiring me as her office manager in her practice and really helped me find my way. She and her husband, Carl, paid for a lot of my schooling as part of my salary and I am forever grateful to them for their generosity and their belief in me.
