Meet Terence Prevost | Visual Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Terence Prevost and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terence, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Man it was so long ago lol. Let me see. Well I knew I had a real passion for being an artist. This was when all I cared about was being a well rounded Photographer (Mainly Wedding photographer) and graphic designer. I felt as if I had a real shot at making it a full time thing. So hey, if I wanted to be legit, I had to make it legit by first getting my DBA. So there was a program not far from my house at a Local community college that offered guidance on small businesses and I went from there.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I’d like to think I am a Jack of all trades. I am a Graphic designer, photographer, Cinematographer, Director, and VFX artist. I guess that within itself sets me a part from everyone because I literally know how to do EVERYTHING. From the script writings, the editing, lighting, producing, camera operator, etc. I’m proud I’ve been able to accomplish everything I have done over the years.
This is 15 years in the making and I’ve had some very hard times. It’s been fun but brutal at times as well. But hey, that comes with the territory when it comes to creating a business and name for youself in any lane.
Passion, prayer, and consistency is how I’ve overcame and never giving up. Besides I’ve been making a full time living off of this since i was 26. I’m 35 now.. Once I’ve seen I was able to be successful at it, why quit?
The lessons I’ve learned are 1. to stay persistent and ALWAYS continue to sharpen that Knife of Skill. There’s always something new to learn and something to improve on. 2. Keep your faith, stay disciplined and let GOD show you the way. There’s no success without discipline. 3. NETWORK you can’t do it alone. I’d be in a much better position had I’d learn to be a better leader to a group of people rather than try to do everything on my own. 4. Take care of your body man. Your body is literally your vehicle to bring you to where you have to go. Won’t make it long if you’re smoking, drinking, eating bad, etc your life away. And REST.
What I want the world to know? Hmmph I got soooo much more to offer, I’m just getting started.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hard to answer that one lol because I hardly go out anymore. If I had to say I’d definitely take that friend to one of the food truck spots on westheimer near the Galleria.
On Sunday we could slide by Sunday Funday at the Exotic Pop Spot.
And hey if I have me a Super Dope Videoshoot with a Celebrity they can most definitely tag along.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First of all GOD gets all of the glory so special s/o to the almighty father and his Son. Secondly my Parents of course. Not to make it sound like an award show or anything lol but had to give credit where credit is due. But as far as real mentorship in my way of living through being a director and video producer, I have to shout out Mr. Boomtown. A highly talented music video director and Film/Movie Director. I started out with just photography and graphic design and that’s all l really ever seen myself doing until I stumbled upon one of his sets. I was pretty amazed at the atmosphere and that passion started to grow within. A couple of years later circumstances happened to where he became a mentor to me. What made it better is the fact that we are from the same town of Port Arthur, TX
