Meet Derrell Harrison | Creative Director / Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Derrell Harrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Derrell, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because I’ve always had a vivid imagination. I see the world as a canvas with endless possibilities, and I’ve found that my unique gift is the ability to take abstract ideas and bring them to life in ways that create memorable experiences for others.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My journey is a testament to the power of creative vision and strategic investment. I’m a serial entrepreneur and investor with a focus on building brands that captivate audiences and deliver memorable experiences. My primary business, Eyetopia Media, is a premium visual service where I work as a creative director for Fortune 2000 brands. We specialize in bringing big ideas to life through compelling visuals, from high-concept campaigns to immersive digital experiences.
What Sets Me Apart
What truly sets me apart is my dual perspective as both a creative and a strategic investor. As a creative director, I understand the art of storytelling and brand building. As an investor, I understand the importance of scalable business models and market trends. This combination allows me to not only create stunning visual content but also to identify and grow ventures with significant potential. This is what led me to invest in Goodies Soul Kitchen, which is the #2 fastest-growing food truck in America. It’s not just a food truck; it’s a rapidly expanding brand with a proven model.
My Journey and Lessons Learned
Getting here was far from easy. The path of an entrepreneur is filled with challenges. The biggest obstacle I’ve faced is balancing the demanding nature of creative work with the responsibilities of being an investor and co-owner. There were countless late nights, tough decisions, and moments of self-doubt. However, these challenges taught me resilience and the importance of having a strong, dedicated team.
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is that success is not just about the big ideas; it’s about the relentless execution of those ideas. You can have a brilliant concept, but without the discipline to build a solid business around it, it will never reach its full potential. I’ve also learned that true growth comes from diversifying—not just in investments, but in skills and knowledge.
What I’m Most Excited About
I’m incredibly proud of everything I’ve built, but what excites me most is the future of my ventures, particularly Birds N Buns. As a co-owner, I’m confident it will become the hottest family sports bar in Texas within the next two years. We’re not just creating a place to eat; we’re building a destination for the community—a place where families and friends can gather to create lasting memories. It’s the culmination of my creative and business passions, and I believe it will be my most impactful project yet.
I want the world to know that my brand and my story are about more than just business. They’re about passion, vision, and the belief that anything is possible if you’re willing to work for it. It’s about using creativity as a force for growth and building a legacy that leaves a positive mark on the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Go to Goodies soul kitchen, you gotta try the jerk pasta. Look at the graffiti walls and go to the rodeo. You won’t regret it!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The book Magic of thinking BIG is what changed me. It helped me tap into my creative energy.
