We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Page and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, what do you attribute your success to?
Being bold and willing to take chances is everything in my line of work. From trying out a new venue to bringing my visions to life and helping others to achieve theirs I’ve had to be ready to take on any challenge presented. I have an amazing ability to create, but I would be no where without the courage to put that art out into the world and let it be seen.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Please tell us more about your art. I hand make cat and other animal cosplay ears, tails & paws. I sell them online and at Anime and Comic Conventions all over Texas. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others? I have an amazing ability to create what I see. Being able to take a drawing or picture of what someone wants and bring it to life! I love a challenge and pride myself on the quality of my work. The designs at my booth are all original and my own creations. My creativity and determination are what sets me apart. I will try until I succeed to make what I dream up. what you are most proud of or excited about? I’m so excited about launching my Dragon line in 2021! Dragon ears and horns made with the love and joy I bring to my art. They are all interchangeable so you can choose just ears or horns or build a set to be worn together. Dragon tails and claw paws will eventually be added to the line. How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? It was definitely not easy, but I have such joy in what I do it never felt difficult no matter how many hours or how much work I put in. I’ve had a few different businesses and all were successful, but it took stepping out of my comfort zone and learning an entirely new set of skills to find my true passion in life. If not, how did you overcome the challenges? I have fought hard to get where I am today. It wasn’t always a win, but I stuck it out and stayed positive no matter what. I just kept trying new things and new venues and now I have booths at some of the biggest Comic and Anime conventions in Texas. What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? I’ve learned that no matter the outcome there is always a positive impact from everything I’ve been bold enough to try. It always leads to something bigger and better. The only failure is if I never tried at all. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? The Happy Cat is about amazing quality, caring customer service and the joy that my art brings to people. You can see that joy and excitement for my craft in every piece I make.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ethiopian food! The restaurant choices are endless! But the city has the best selection of Ethiopian restaurants which is a favorite of mine and something I love to share with those close to me.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this Shoutout to my loving parents, my Mother Nikki Page and my Father Dennis Page. Without them I would not be who I am today. Thanks Mom for always encouraging my every whim when it came to art projects, letting me explore my talents and always being creative with me. And thank you Dad for encouraging me in all my crazy business ideas and teaching me to be the amazing entrepreneur that I am today. I couldn’t have done it without you.
