We had the good fortune of connecting with Anastasia Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anastasia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my favorite phrases/questions is “why not?”. If I can process all of the reasons why NOT to do something and either come up with none, or process and get comfortable with all of those reasons, the only thing left to do is…IT! I can often be my own worst enemy and if I get out of my own head and look at things objectively, I generally find I have no reason not to move forward on an idea or project.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In addition to the jewelry, by day, I’m a commercial insurance broker with a specific focus on Marine cargo and stock throughput insurance. Working in this line of business allows me the good fortune to work very closely with Lloyd’s of London which is well known for ensuring quite unique things like America Ferrera’s smile or Tina Turner’s legs for example. Always wanting to stretch my entrepreneurial legs (pun intended), I learned how to make apps without code earlier this year end it only made sense for me to develop an app for Lloyds of London, as a question was plaguing me – what are my London colleagues doing in the midst of the pandemic? The trading floor is closed but the face to fact operations of Lloyd’s are what make it special. Thus, The Queue was born. The Queue replicates the traditional Lloyd’s experience virtually so that trading can happen as close to the way it does in real life electronically. This is the heart of entrepreneurship right?Developing a solution for a problem that exists or improving upon something already out there! The Queue is the first of its kind and I’m proud to spearhead the effort.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not a vegan but Green Seed Vegan on Almeda is absolutely craveable. Cauliflower Bites FTW! Crumbville, run by a wondrous woman named Ella, is also a must eat for the best sweet treats you’ve ever had! The Japanese Garden in Hermann Park is lovely for a bit of tranquility on a pretty day and there’s always a visually arresting exhibit on display at the MFAH. I would also recommend a double decker bus tour of downtown to learn the history of Houston – good fun!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been several Facebook groups that have offered support – too many to name but they know who they are!!
