We had the good fortune of connecting with Cabria Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cabria, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The reason I chose an artistic career over anything else is because I felt a the age of 14, that there was a lot for me to express to the world musically. I wanted to change the world with my voice. I’ve always had big dreams, and that dream to change the world still remains. For so long I felt my creative voice was being stifled by circumstances, so now I live my life in a way where I am truly free to express myself. I thrive off of creativity and I’m glad I’ve given myself the opportunity to express daily.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a singer/ songwriter born and raised in Houston, Texas. Currently my art entails producing all of the music that I cover on my social media platforms. I’m recreating some of my favorite songs, playing all of the instruments and learning more about production. This process has inspired me to produce all of the tracks for my first- ever EP. I’m really excited about giving my supporters a full project that they can go listen to whenever they want. It’s been something I’ve wanted for about 4 years now, and I’m finally in a space to give them that. To get where I am today wasn’t easy, but I respect the process and I just try to stay on track with my goals. I’ve learn to celebrate the small victories, to not sweat the small stuff; you need a little bit of hope each day. I’ve learned as long as you keep aiming for the target no matter how many times you miss it, just keep aiming for it and eventually you’ll nail it. I want the world to hear me, to hear what I have to say as an artist because I have a different perspective on things that I think many would enjoy. I want people to view my work like a nice change of scenery.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d say some of my favorite spots are James Turrell’s Skyspace, Axelrad, and Project Row Houses to name a few. Those places make me feel lighter. I get transported somewhere else each time I go to each place. Food wise, because I am a pescatarian foodie, Lotus Seafood is the best. I’d eat there everyday if I could.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely attribute my success to my parents. My mother and my stepdad sacrificed so much of their time to make sure I had everything I needed to go after my dreams. They have supported me not only financially but also spiritually. They ensured that I had the mental fortitude for tough times an artist may face while trying to pursue a career in music.
