We had the good fortune of connecting with Soghra (Rubi) Hyder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Soghra (Rubi), looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision to me was deciding not to close down my salon after just 1 year in business. I was put in a situation where I had 2 choices either close the business or run it on my own, I’m glad I trusted my heart with that decision.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Klassy Diva’s Salon & Spa is a ladies only salon that focuses on chemical free facials. What sets us apart is that we are a ladies only salon for one reason and that reason is that every woman deserves a little ME TIME. I’m proud of what my salon gives to every woman, not just a great skin that makes you look good but also a much deserved relaxation time that makes you feel good too. I don’t think I’m anywhere close to where I want my business to be honestly(thanks to covid ) but I’m blessed to be in business today which is not easy in these times. I had to face many challenges due to covid financially and emotionally but I have learned that having a positive mindset and believing in your vision will pull you out of any struggle. My vision for the salon is to be the go spot of every woman in Katy & Houston when they need some time to relax and take care of their skin (AKA: ME TIME)
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m fairly new to Houston myself as I have been here for only 5 years and never really explored the city. Living in Chicago most of my life all I can say is I’m enjoying the Houston weather. My best friend is in Dallas so if she visits me in Houston I would take her to Surfside Beach which has become my late night relaxation spot with bon fire & music. I’m not much of a party or city night life person as I like low key environment. For food I’ll take her to a local restaurant called Ranosh I like the outdoor seating with music and hookah and some good food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Parents & my siblings for their love and motivation. My husband Raza for being my back bone and supporting me in my every decision. My daughters for inspiring me to be the best version of myself. Last but not least my helpers at the salon Nadia & Zubi for standing firm by my side.
