We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Galeoto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I simply wanted freedom over my own time! I had sat down to do the math one day and discovered that I’d spend 10 years at a desk if I worked a 9-5 until I retired and, after that realization, it almost didn’t seem like a choice but to start my own thing, be my own boss and take my time and life back.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a content creator and social media mentor and I pride myself in that I skip all of the fluff in my social media content so that I can provide my audience with maximum value as a thank you for taking the time to support me. I am so lucky and proud to work one on one with ambitious, like-minded and rebellious dreamers who want to break the mold of 9-5 life and create their own path using social media!
I tell my community all the time that I got where I am now simply by starting and then not stopping. For years, I was trying to wait until the “perfect time” or until I “knew it all” to start but, I realized I couldn’t learn it all without practicing, failing and trying again, first. I faced, and continue to face, a lot of challenges like Impostor Syndrome, burnout and fear to fail in front of an audience. I overcome these things by leaning on my audience for their support, practicing mental health and reminding myself that it is more of a failure never to try than it is to actually fail. I’ve learned that the life I want is always on the other side of risk, failure and then adaptation,
My mission as a social media coach and mentor is not only to give others the tactical steps to social media success, but also to empower them to start at all, keep going when it gets hard and help them build the life of freedom that they deserve!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a content creator, I love exploring unique and aesthetic spots around my city! Here’s what I’d do with a day in Houston if you ever visit:
-A picnic at Eleanor Tinsley park with a view of the Houston Skyline
-Brunch and drinks at Present Company
-Drive-in movie with a city-view at MoonStruck Drive-in
-Dinner and drinks at Plucker’s Wing Bar
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! Christina Galbato is my social media business mentor and is the reason I had the inspiration and confidence to start my online Journey! Similar to me, Christina had a realization one day about her 9-5 as she looked at the steps leading to her corporate office and saw that they were sunken in with the wear of so many people spending so much time walking those steps. Because of her story, I knew I could do it, too. And, now, I have the amazing opportunity to be working with and learning form her one on one!
