We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiphine E Cross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiphine E, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted the whole pie instead of just crumbs. The freedom to travel and move around freely is very important to me. Starting my own business gave me the ability to do that.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dapper Debonair Services is a balloon decor and event staffing business. We provide balloon decorations which includes but are not limited to: balloon garlands, walls, bouquets, and columns. We also offer bartenders and waitstaff for any occasion. Dapper Debonair executes our services with a high level of professionalism and class. I’m very proud to take part in my clients special day. I got to where I am today by being a hard worker and not taking no for an answer. I felt if I’m going to be working hard, I might as well work for myself. I’ve hit some bumps in the road along the way. It was not easy. I just stayed focus and, with the help of my support team (friends & family), I persevered. What I’ve learned along the journeys in my life, is that there’s always a way even if you have to find it yourself. I want the world to know that I’m here and I’m destined for even greater things than I’ve already accomplished.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely take my friend to the midtown/downtown area. It has it all. Clubs, bars, restaurants…the nightlife is excellent. There are also amazing parks where we could hang out. Hermann Park is very nice. We could pick up a pizza at Pepperoni’s on Montrose. Or maybe even swing by the Underground Hall in Downtown. There’s a cute little bakery there called Luv’Em Leches. Oh, we have to go to Rise Rooftop. And last but not least, we have to check out the graffiti park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My good friend Max Rios. He has been a driving force in the success of my business. He is infectiously positive and motivating. Max encourages me to push the limits and reach for the stars.
