Meet Gwendolynn Coleman | Lash tech

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gwendolynn Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gwendolynn, what do you want people to remember about you?
Before my injury I’ve always been known to be a leader, popular and athletic, every sport I participated in I was very competitive. As I continue to grow in the lash extension industry my legacy would be my courage my strength and determination. Being a disabled black woman has been one of the most difficult change in my life but I never gave up. I’ve worked so hard to get where I am today. Yet I’m still not done there is so much more growth to accomplish. I’ve always felt that in a work environment going over and beyond for your customer is important it gives affirmation to your customers that they are important and their business is greatly appreciated. I will always be remembered for being available for my clients when they need me the most especially my last minute people. Lastly I’m sure they will always remember the strong black disabled mother who never gave up, I didn’t allow my disability to determine who I am. My determination my strength has helped so many people to keep going because if I can do it so can they.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an 3 times certified lash tech the best in my clients eyes. I love what I do it has never been about the money for me. As long as my clients get off my table and feel even more beautiful than before that’s what make me who I am. 4 years ago I had a life changing situation that I had to choose to be a stay at home mother. Lash tech a comfortable occupation that allows me to work safely in my wheelchair. I worked so hard day and night 8am to 8pm. My growth has been everything I have grown my work speaks for itself. There are many other areas that needs improvement but with time that goal Would be accomplished. I lack small things but those are challenges I’m working on. My clients are the reason I’m able to make it thus far because they never gave up on me every where I went they followed that’s why I love them because they understood and adjusted if you know you know. My disability is what makes me what makes my brand what makes my business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend is visiting and if you know my best friend we would definitely go to a party city with great food and drinks as well as music. My traveling has been limited but my bestie will definitely talk me into taking a chance. But the best place I’ve been able to attend safely was an cruise amazing trip food drinks and activities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughters family and friends they have always believed in me no matter what decisions I decide to make. I sometimes felt like giving up I cried many times because I know I’m still not where I need to be in life but they make sure I don’t give up. The support my brothers and sisters give never goes unnoticed. My friends my friends my clients my supporters are amazing they will support support motivate push me help me and most of all never switch up even when I’m able or available.
