We had the good fortune of connecting with Siobane Morales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Siobane, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Ever since I was a little girl I loved to decorate my bedroom. I would wake up my brother in the middle of the night because all of a sudden I had the idea of moving my bed from one wall to the other. As a young girl I didn’t have the money to decorate as I truly wanted, but I always knew I had a passion for interior design. As I grew older, I also realized I loved to create special events for my friends and family. I have always been the party planner, the designer, in the family. Friends also call me asking for help when redecorating their homes or when planning their next event. I am always happy to help. Being an event planner allows me to incorporate both my passions of interior design and event planning to create events that are both beautiful and unforgettable for anyone.
What should our readers know about your business?
Boho & Chic Events is still brand new, but we are eager to share our creativity and ideas with the world. We may not be the only picnic and event planning business in the city, but I assure you that everything we create is made genuinely with enthusiasm and love.
Starting up was not complicated, what I think was difficult for me was making the decision, taking that first step into becoming a new business owner. There was always that fear of failure that kept holding me back. A whole year passed until I decided to go after my dream of owning a small event planning business. It was a moment of now or never when I finally gave in and went for it.
Something I’ve learned along the way is that fear can be your worst enemy. It will keep you from living your dreams. Sometimes it’s just best to take the risk. You will never know how things can turn out for you if you never try it.
Boho & Chic Events is a way of expressing our passion for design and event planning. Creating unique and memorable events is our objective, so bringing people together for a moment of happiness and laughter without the hassle of event planning is worth every minute. The days go by, but the moments we create are the ones that will stay in our hearts forever.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend came to visit for a week, I would take her to Lola for a good breakfast, they have the best chicken and waffles or Sweet Paris for delicious crepes. Afterwards, we would visit the Sawyer Yards art exhibits. Lunch would have to be at the Dunlavy. An evening jog down Buffalo Bayou is a must for the city skyline. City Centre for shopping. For dinner, Potente, or other options like Xochi and B&B Butchers are all amazing. Of course we can’t have her visit without bar hopping down Main Street and visiting the Rooftop Cinema Club in Uptown Houston.
Houston is a very welcoming city. The people here are always fun and friendly. Most of the places here to visit will allow you to leave with a great experience making that week of vacation completely worth it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My kids and my family are my biggest motivation in life. When I doubt myself, my family is always there pushing me to believe in myself, they never leave my side, and I find comfort knowing that I can turn to them for the silliest and more delicate matter and they will always be there for me. My kids are the ones who make me want to become the best version of myself. They are the ones who give me the strength to keep moving forward. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for them.
