Meet Channell Dawson | Certified Mindset and Life Coach & Licensed Christian Counselor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Channell Dawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Channell, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
My mother had five children all two years apart and I was the baby of the five. Yep, you guessed it Channell number 5! I was surely the reason my mother stopped at five..LOL. I was always into something either at school or in the community; it never failed if something was going on I was in it. In my adolescences I was diagnosed with ADD, BD, Manic Depression, Severe Depression, and anxiety disorder. I attempted suicide and was institutionalized for six months.
During this time I had an opportunity to read the bible and really get to know God for myself. Yes, knowing God for yourself is a thing!!! In my time of isolation there were no apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists to deliver me from what ailed me mentally. I was given medications to calm and keep me on a positive path. Mental health can be controlled with medication, support and a personal prayer life and relationship with God. AMEN!!!I can truly say that the life I am living today is a direct result to my sacrifice to God. If it had not been for the encounter I experience while I was in self-isolation, I would not be where I am today. It was my mother that gave me the bible while I was isolated and because of that I am living a life that many could only dream of living simply because I surrendered my will for God’s will over my life.
Today, I am married to my wonderful husband of 18 years Marcus Dawson. Together we have three beautiful children Marcaela (15), Matthew (3) and Madison (3). Yes, twins! After years of being told I would never have children God made a way for me to have three children just as He promised me in 2016 after suffering multiple miscarriages. God’s promises are yes and Amen!
In addition to being a wife and mother; I am also employed in management full time, I am a licensed Christian Counselor, I am a licensed cosmetologist, I am a Certified Mindset and Life Coach, Author, Founder and CEO of Lifestyle Restoration Group a non-profit organization geared toward renovating the life and mindset of willing participants.

What should our readers know about your business?
My husband and I started pursuing the organization in 2013 and registered the name but did not have the experience to pursue the proper way to start it up so, we connected with a couple that assisted us with planning the organization’s structure and layout. After the couple displayed behaviors that would not lead to success we decided to hold off pursuing the organization with them.
After being cheated out of funds, having my ideas stolen, and other setbacks in the previous years, we decided to pursue it again in 2021 we re-established the organization applied for non-profit status and finally received our 501(c)3. It was not easy but it was worth it because we did not let setbacks stop us from doing what God told us to do even though it took us years to do it.
We’ve learned that no matter what comes our way if we keep pushing through the storms that come with business and over all life, we’ll be prepared for the next storm because no matter what we are pursuing , storms will come, we just have to be prepared to ride it out or push through it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my best friend to any City Centre because the areas have so many places to eat, drink, listen to live music, or just to hang out. I would also find a concert to attend which is always fun and exciting. I would go to Bowlero because there’s music, fun and food. I would also have a dinner personally prepared because I am not too bad in the kitchen. ![]()

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, My shoutout goes to multiple people and organizations. First I want to shoutout my mom Maxine Maiden Webester and mother in-love Denise Marie Hosenbackez for showing me how to take life by the horns and never let it throw me off my game as a wife, mother and woman.
Shoutout to Mrs. Chimere Bacon-Destin Founder and CEO of Boss Up Houston Network and the Real Housewives of Houston for pushing me into my purpose and showing me how to conduct myself as an entrepreneur/go-getter in such a competitivemarket.
My last shoutout is to everyone that said they would never fail me but did, thank you all because if you had not failed me, I would not have moved towards my destiny. I am gracefully broken and abundantly blessed!
