We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, what inspires you?
Success Stories. The success of others.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create table-ready cakes, cakes that arrive ready to cut and eat. In other words, what sets me apart from most other bakers is I only use buttercream. American, Swiss, and Italian to name a few. I’m very excited about my future in the baking industry. I am surrounded by very successful entrepreneurs that I listen to and learn from that help keep me focused and moving towards my goals of a very successful, fully functional home-based bakery.
I started baking as a hobby in 1993. My Honey (stepmother) got me started on that. Nothing spectacular, whatever Betty Crocker had to offer. I moved to scratch-made cakes in 2013. 2018 was the year I started baking professionally. Thanks to the assistance currently offered by social media, the transitions that brought me to where I am today were relatively smooth. Not to say there were not the occasional cakes being thrown across the kitchen for not acting right.
I’ve learned to trust the process. Whether it makes since or not, trust it. It works.
The world should know that I take my brand very seriously. It represents my family and who we are. Know that anything I create comes directly from my spirit and through my heart. Every ounce of passion that I have is put into what I do. Nothing leaves my hands without first receiving the absolute best I can give.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hands down, The Aquarium Downtown and Kemah. Moody Gardens. This Is It. Baybrook Mall area.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My team, which consists of myself, my husband, the one who burns the midnight oil with me when the orders keep me up all night, and our son, the taste-tester (nothing goes out without his seal of approval).
