We had the good fortune of connecting with Saba Gyemfi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Saba, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks in life is absolutely necessary. Often times, opportunities are presented when you take a leap of faith and do something out of your comfort zone. When I think about my brand, Savoring with Saba, it literally started because my sister said I should share my new low-carb lifestyle journey. I’m not a chef, but I’m a foodie who loves to cook, share recipes, and connect with others. I took a chance and purchased recording equipment, built a website, and started my YouTube channel. I had no idea what I was doing or what to expect, but I recorded videos and shared content. Over the past two years, I established numerous relationships and brand deals. It was also a great hobby that helped me get through the pandemic. Starting Savoring with Saba reinforced two valuable lessons: (1) never be afraid to take risks; and, (2) ALWAYS bet on yourself!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing worth having comes easy. During the first year of creating content, I did a lot of research. I identified food trends, learned technical skills to better help me shoot and edit my long form content, and experimented with marketing strategies to grow and expand my audience. Content creation really is a full-time job! One of my biggest challenges was learning how to edit my YouTube videos. I had no video editing experience prior to starting my channel. I can’t tell you how many YouTube videos I watched on Premier Pro! It was rough, but necessary. But, learning how to edit not only helped me learn how tell my story, but watching myself helped me identify how to be a better communicator and I should format my videos. I want my brand to empower others to try something new and expand their skills.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s so important to recognize those who help you develop and grow. I have to shoutout my sister. She was my taste tester, director and videographer when I first started creating content. She’s always willing to help me and share my content on her platforms. She’s the best!
