Meet Mariana Mosqueda | Hairstylist & Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariana Mosqueda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I would like to start off when I started in the Beauty Industry. When I was in High School I talked to my mother about going to beauty school. It was hard for mom and dad at the time, so I got a job to help them pay off beauty school. When I graduated high school six months later I graduated from Beauty school. I’m talking this was back in Mexico. After graduation I started looking for a job so I could help my parents since the situation in Mexico was very hard. There was a really Famous and expensive Beauty Salon called Marsil, it was the BEST there in the city of Salamanca. well guess what ??? They reached out to me offering me a good position… that was my dream!!! I couldn’t believe it. I’m not gonna lie, the first 5 months working there was a little hard. Artists there were masters for me! I was just starting! inside me, I would say ‘WOW! I’ll be like them some day!’ Long story short, 2years later I decided to come live to Houston most of my family lives here. So I started working for different companies in the Beauty Industry which it’s awesome too getting to know people that love what they do just like me! most of them just do hair OR makeup. I offer Hair, Makeup, nails, hair treatments, hair color, etc etc I love what I do and now that I got married, and have 2 baby boys, it’s awesome how I can spend most of the time with them by having my own business. Now i thank God for everything I have achieved!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a true passion for hair and makeup, but also hair color, nails, lashing everything that has to be with beauty. I can say I always have fun at work! It’s exciting to see when a client looks in the mirror and loves how beautiful she looks. It wasn’t easy to get where I am now, I still learn new things, new techniques.
It’s been 12 years of experience and I love it. I got the opportunity to do Los Bukis a Mexican Grupera Band ! that has been The best experience!!!!! of all these years!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To start off I would have to take my bestie to my favorite brunch spot. Cuchara, an authentic Mexico City bistro serving creative Mexican food & cocktails in a setting brightened with whimsical paintings. they have the most delicious food! I love to explore and be outside I am usually up for any spontaneous event.
Glorias it’s always a place to go for a nice dinner, drink and if you like to dance stay a little later, that is my favorite part of the restaurant, it becomes a salsa club after 10pm. love it

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people to thank, I don’t think I have enough room. But I want to start with my mother who is in heaven now. She supported me since the very first time, her and my dad Graciela & Guillermo Mosqueda that tried their best to help me pay off beauty school and run after my dream. My husband Armando Cruz, he is the number one now ! by supporting me & cheering me every time I accomplish what I go for! he has been there for me & always keeps me uplifted.. I love you. Last but not least Jc Mosqueda, my uncle that is also an amazing Hair & Makeup Artist for introducing me to Thalio Beckham one of the best Makeup Artist here in Houston, I have learned so many things from him and it’s a pleasure to work with him and our big team in the industry.
