We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Gazzaneo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business stemmed from the idea of me being able to be my own boss, also to have the freedom to express my creativity through the medium of digital media, something that’s been a passion of mine from a young age. I went to college at University of Houston and studied communications with an emphasis in Media Production, where I was able to learn about various aspects of digital media, but from a young age videography had always caught my eye in particular. Once I graduated I started looking for jobs in that field and realized that I could start to do photography and videography as a freelancer. I created an instagram account and started building my image from there. I felt a big shift in January of 2021 when I created my logo and launched Michie Productions with that logo, and also the vision of Michie Productions that I began building in my mind.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a way that I express myself. Whether it be through music, photography, or creating videos. I think that’s what sets me apart, is my diversity in different creative outlets. Being able to connect and understand the musical aspect, and how sound affects an individual, and connecting it back with the visuals as well. Or being able to capture the stillness of an image which depicts a certain emotion within the viewer. I’m most excited to continue to see how I grow in this field and with my art. I realize that time and dedication is what sets one apart. Being able to fail but getting back up again. Taking your failures as lessons, and not as the end of the world. That’s a huge lesson that I’ve taken from it all. Also that as long as you believe in yourself no one can take that confidence from you. I want the world to know that we can make a difference if we come together, through art, and creating, to try to make the world a better place, for the generations to come. I want the people to see and feel how beautiful life can be if we just open ourselves up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend were visiting for a week one of the places which I would take them to for the first night of dinner would be Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. It’s great energy and three stories high with a beautiful view of the Houston skyline. Also they have great food and beer selections to choose from. Before that though, I would take them to Momentum, which is the climbing gym right next door. Climbing is one of my favorite hobbies, and I think it’s a great way to make friends and also build up confidence. Another place that would be on our to do list would be the graffiti park that’s in EaDo. They always have really beautiful art and sometimes during the weekends you can also find some stylin’ cars. After spending a nice evening strolling through EaDo and maybe riding the scooters, I would take my friend to Paradise Palace, a club with bright neon lights that make you do a double take when you drive by at night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the people that have always believed in me. I feel like if it wasn’t for the support team that I have around me, including my younger brother Jean Paul Gazzaneo, and others that are close to me, I wouldn’t have been able to push as far as I have.
