We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Devenport and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My entire vision is based on being a Kingdom Entrepreneur. Everything that I would do for my business had to have the sole purpose of glorifying God. And the first step to me accomplishing that was to have a scriptural foundation that I would build my business around, which is Romans 8:17. So, Wardrobe of an Heiress literally started out as a hobby. It all started with me making custom tee shirts. God would give me a phrase prophetically and I would put it on a shirt. Well, people started to want the shirts that I would make and so it really took off from there. Eventually as it progressed, I tapped into my first love which is fashion and so I implemented the Wardrobe of an Heiress Boutique and Wardrobe Styling Services during the beginning of COVID.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting my Boutique, I wanted to create a solution for a problem that I was personally experiencing. Being a petite woman, I found it extremely difficult to find clothing that was modest and would fit my body type appropriately. And I know there’s so many other women that experience the same issue and so I wanted to be that solution. What sets me apart from others is that everything that I do is done prophetically. I don’t just put outfits together, there’s meaning behind everything, from the colors chosen to the patterns. It all has a significant meaning. I’m most excited about all of the things that are coming in the near future, like within a few months. I only got to where I am today because of Gods grace and his plans for me. Nothing about entrepreneurship is easy, in any aspect. There’s so many challenges I face daily, but what gets me through is much prayer, and the support of my family and friends. Along the way, I’ve learned that it’s important to run your business properly meaning having all the necessary licensing and paperwork in order. That makes a big difference. I also learned not to worry and focus on who’s supporting you and who’s not. It takes up too much of your time and energy. Let God be your number one supporter and that’s really enough. I want the world to know that Wardrobe of an Heiress is much more than clothing. It’s a declaration of Royalty, it’s a lifestyle, it’s who I am.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to lunch at Musaafer in the Galleria. The food and vibes are amazing. Then since we’re already there, definitely have to do a little shopping in the Galleria. Dinner at Lucilles in the museum district is a must, it gives grandmas house with a home cooked meal. I’m not really a night scene type of person so maybe catch a movie and the IMAX in Katy. And of course their accomodations would have to be at the Marriott Marquis downtown because the Texas shaped lazy river is just stunning.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many who played a significant role in who I am today. I definitely have to shoutout my Mother who was the example of hard work, dedication and not taking no for an answer. My Apostle and spiritual mother, Elaine Benson who continues to provide me with wisdom and spiritual guidance. And my mentor Prophetess Sophia Ruffin-Wilson, who really challenged me to not just think of my business as something small, but she really pushed me into being a BOSS spiritually and in business.
