Success is creating what you want to see in the world. Whether that’s music, visual art, social change…success is being an active part of creation in a way that’s genuine and honest to who you are. As it applies to my music, I always write what I want to hear/play. I have my personal set of influences, and I naturally draw from those – I very rarely try to write something that I think is going to “sell” or something I think will be a hit. I just create what I enjoy and say the things that I need and want to say. As it relates to lyrics – I have a lot of trouble writing a good song that isn’t rooted somehow in my own experiences. This includes mental, physical, monetary and emotionally.
