We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Arriaga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my baking business wasn’t planned, it was encouragement from friends and family. I started off just baking for family and friends. The requests became more frequent. I found myself taking on multiple orders and advertising and it has developed from there. I have always loved art and baking so this came naturally to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I focus a lot on taste but I’m also particular about how it looks. I like to take my time so it looks good. I’m excited about how far I’ve come from where I started. It’s a learning process for sure, from customer communication, packaging, and delivering. It was never easy for me in the beginning but my Instagram connection with other cookie artists has helped to grow my business. There are a lot of cookie artists doing the same thing but we are all unique in our own ways. I’m also a full time working mom/wife juggling work, family and baking.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Friends, family, and co-workers have always encouraged me to start my own business, without them I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. With their loving support, I was able to start offering my baking goods through my Instagram business page.
