We had the good fortune of connecting with Livvie Star and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Livvie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought was to promote local businesses, artists and talents in Austin Metropolitan area which now has extended to Dallas and Houston as well. This has become our company’s mission & vision to support small mom & pop businesses via our exclusive and extensive marketing, to provide artists a platform where they showcase their talents and provide them further opportunity at National level to help them grow further. We make sure our vendors get clients, our models reach to an international level & national levels like Austin Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week etc. We have helped dancers set up their dance school companies. We have guided & encouraged local decorators to become creative & efficient event organizers. We have encouraged lot of homemakers to come forward and start pursuing their passion be it a food industry, bakery, painting/sketching or jewelry businesses. We do not claim to be big, but have always tried to stay low key & to be a boutique style company where we provide the best experience to each of our attendees, vendors and sponsors.

What should our readers know about your business?
Livvie Star Company is the second best in ratings in Austin area for Event management and as planner. I have been living in the US for the past 15 years, I am happily married with two kids & a fur baby. I work at an International Law Firm as Records Specialist. I always had this deep passion for charitable work since college days. I strongly believe in trust-based philanthropy, supporting diversity in collective giving, and specifically helping to educate and inspire donors of color on the transformational impact of philanthropy in Austin communities. My first volunteering was at a Drug and Alcohol Rehab/Recovery center in Bhopal, MP state, India. When I moved to the US, I started volunteering vigorously for various non-profits some of the very prestigious ones are American Red Cross, Emergency Response Team in Fire Departments of Maryland & Texas, Texas Health & Human Services Commission (ODPC), Rodan and Fields Prescription for Change & Hospice caring in Maryland. My charity work focuses from grassroots to national level organizations. I am also a contract-based, freelance Film Festival Director and Festival Programmer for four prestigious South Asian Film Festivals in the US & Canada for the last five years.
I have recently founded a non-profit based on empowering people to share their stories by creating inclusive space leading to inspiring and authentic indie films. The non-profit is called Austin South Asian Film Festival.

The astounding idea to start my very own Social Events company struck when I tried to hire an event decorator for my 40th birthday. The amazing idea to have an event which was an instant hit & super successful was outside the box idea. No one had done something like this before in Austin. Since I am cheerful & people’s person, I love to bring people & communities together through meetups, volunteering & organizing small scale events; I decided to keep my company as a Social Event company- we do not organize private events like wedding birthday parties. I want to keep this company as a very stylish, boutique style social event company where people mingle, make memories & have fun with food, drinks, friends & families! My company also produces short films in the US & other South Asian countries.
Organizing events whether small or big are time-consuming & big undertakings but are super fun. I enjoy the whole journey, from its inception to the execution. I made great friends along the way. There are always conflicts, struggles & disappointments but don’t they all play a small part in everyone’s life? I usually have a very happy-go-lucky attitude; you won’t find me talking about my struggles
All I can say is that I came from a very small town in India. More than half of my education is not even in English. I work hard with full passion for about 11 hours a day & love to spend time with my family for the rest of the day. My family is my inspiration and I think that’s why I always try to organize family-friendly events.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to eat go out for party I am also an avid camper! I would definitely take them to Austin’s favorite spots to eat amazing tacos ( Torchy’s, Chuy’s ) BBQ ( Saltlick ) local breweries (Jester Brewery) who also serves amazing wood fired pizza (pinthouse pizza)! I would also take them to some high end Resturants (Perry’s steakhouse, Lenoir) and last but not the least will take them to the best cocktail places ex The Roosevelt Room
For sightseeing pennybecker bridge , lake Travis, Barton Creek, Zilker park are my usual favorites. For hiking I love Georgetown parks and for camping I would love to take them to Garner state park, Caddo lake etc

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give out a huge shoutout to a founder of a non-profit & CEO of a dance school in Austin who recognized my true potential and pushed me towards working in events/ film festival fields. I have been a volunteer for about 14 years in my life but never had courage to do something of my own. I started this company in 2021 when I was confident enough to do something for all, pocket friendly and family friendly events in Austin area. We take pride in our reputation in Houston, Dallas, Austin Event Market.
