We had the good fortune of connecting with Aimee Santana-Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aimee, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a kid that’s what I always gravitated to, Art. It helped that my parents are my biggest supporters. I’ve loved anything and everything artistic. I admire dancers, figure skaters, theater kids, gospel singers..etc everything that has the ability to express ones creativity. Freedom of expressing ones inner emotions and capturing beauty; that people don’t normally notice is my favorite part. The ability to create something with your own hands is the greatest feeling of accomplishment. There was no way I could not purse something in the creative field. When art has been my whole life

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
To get where I am in life right now, has not been easy. Some days you feel little less creative and some days you can’t stop thinking of new ideas. Not only do I run “Aimee Santana’s Photography”. I run “BelovedAimz”. Which Is my Digital art, jewelry, DIYs, and paintings. So all around I have something artistic to offer. Which is something I’m most proud of. I have learned it’s ok to fail and make mistakes. Because once you understand that, you can do anything you put your mind to. I’m a person that doesn’t give up. I’ve been told, “I can’t do that or I’m not capable”. So much younger, by some teachers. Those words can scar someone in life. But for me. Made me want to prove them wrong even harder. Which I have. I was bullied for childish things like my looks. And I never want any female, to feel like that. To doubt the way they look. Every single person is beautiful the way they are. So when I’m behind the camera. Its such a huge honor to capture ones beauty. And when you get their feedback on how amazing they felt and looked. Means the world. That’s why last year I did, the “flower project”, I choice females I knew for a fact have gone through things in the past years that shaped who they are. I wanted to celebrate their growth and shine a light to their accomplishments. And capturing not just their outer beauty but their inner beauty. And because of that do everything out of love to make sure you feel loved. That’s my mission in my businesses and life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m Hispanic so anytime there is food and good company it’s always going to be a good time! In Houston there so many pretty places and food to try. Lake Livingston is so beautiful and is the first place I’d take my best friend. It’s so peaceful and such a good place to take pictures. Who doesn’t love a picnic? I’d take them to Torchy’s it’s such a cool catch up place with amazing tacos. I’d take them to main Street in downtown where all the really cool graffiti art is. Also an Amazing spot to take pictures. Old time spring, you can spend a whole day finding so many hidden treasures. A place that has my heart is Texas longhorn steakhouse I was engaged there. They made a beautiful cake dish for the proposal.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A person that gets the biggest Shout in my life in general is God, seriously I would not be here if it wasn’t for him. My parents are huge supporters from the start and I appreciate them even more that I’m older and a mother. My husband Jon, seriously being married to an artist is so fun, he comes up so many ideas that help me as well. And my handsome Son, Noah. Because of him I push forward everyday. I have really supportive friends, that also push me out of my comfort zone to create some amazing art as well.
