We had the good fortune of connecting with Aisha Freeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aisha, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
When I think of success I think of three key words dedication, consistency, and resilience. You must be dedicated to your goals and vision. You must be consistent with the steps that it takes to get there. You must have resilience to withstand the trials and tests that you will face. My organization Run Your Queendom Inc., has had obstacles but I always keep the end goal in mind. Which is ‘building Queens one girl at a time.” Also I think that habits are good to form, because it allows you to understand your weaknesses and strengths. Success is not based on a standard, but it is based on the mindset that you establish around conquering and accomplishing your goals.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Run Your Queendom, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Houston, TX. Our motto is “Building Queens one girl at a time.” We emphasize the importance of confidence, health, and education in every program that we facilitate in the community. Some of the programs that we offer include Queendom Day Camps, Queen 2 Queen Mentoring, and our most recent program Queens Need Care. The number one thing that makes our organization different is that we push confidence. We believe that confidence is the gateway to everything in life. If you have confidence, then you have self-esteem. When you have self-esteem, you know your worth. By knowing that, it will make you unstoppable. While I keep confidence at the forefront of everything I do, the journey to establishing my nonprofit and maintaining it have not been easy. But I have always kept one thing in mind, which is to continue to build up the upcoming generation. I believe that empowering and enriching our youth with the tools they need will lead to better outcomes and circumstances for their future. The lessons that I have learned and want our girls to learn is that they are worthy. When we allow others to tell us who we are and who we will be, we ultimately give them the power. I learned that being in business you must keep your purpose centered, or you will let others define and create for you. I want the community to understand that Run Your Queendom is in the business of BUILDING Queens! We want to see our girls win. When the girls win we all win. By instilling in our youth, the tools that it takes to build her Queendom, you give her the keys to a unstoppable movement that will continue to build her generation.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
First off let me say that Houston is such a diverse place and a week is not long enough to visit all the AMAZING sites, venues, and food spots in H-Town! However, I would bring a friend to these hearty eateries so they would always have leftovers such as Krab Kings, Mikki’s Soulfood Café, The Stuffed Baked Potato Factory and The Breakfast Klub. Each of these locations have big portions, an entrée that anyone would love and desert. Furthermore, fun and recreational events include Top Golf, Movie Bar and Grill, and Baybrook Mall. Each of these locations provides a fun vibe along with a chill atmosphere. I am always looking for ways in which I can just relax and have a good time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a great question! The trendy word that most people discuss now is “tribe”. Everyone wants a tribe of supporters that are loyal and genuine. My tribe are the people I call family. My mother, husband and both my father-in-law and mother-in-law have supported my dreams and have not once doubted me. I look to them for advice on new projects and lean on them as a continued resource when I need it. My second shout out goes to the books that I’m reading… My first published book “Extraordinary Girl, Phenomenal World” its an amazing feeling seeing something you wrote on paper, in book format, and on Amazon! It makes you look at success in a different light and essentially motivates you to keep going.
