We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Zimos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what is the most important factor behind your success?
There are many factors that have contributed to where I am now. Juggling school work, volunteering, attending dental events, doing photoshoots, studying for my Dental Admission Test, etc. definitely couldn’t be done without the support of my family. With me currently preparing for dental school and being a fitness influencer keeps me busy and calls for a lot of prioritizing. Without the help of my family supporting me, I am not sure if I would be where I am now. I love being able to balance preparing to be a future dentist while, working with different fitness and lifestyle companies.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I wasn’t always into fitness. I tore my ACL twice in high school and thats when I knew I was done playing sports. I decided to start working out as much as I could to strengthen my knee to prevent future complications. I started training at a gym in Richmond, TX. One day, I had walked into a training session and was asked if I wanted to be in a marketing video for the gym. I was very hesitant because I had never done a videoshoot before, let alone a fitness video. I figured I had nothing to lose and decided to go for it. I ended up loving the video and posting the video on my instagram page, I had no idea within 24 hours, the video would be at 20,000 views. After that video, I had multiple companies reach out to me asking if I could come be in videos for them. Over time, my page has grown and I never thought I would make it to over 100,000 followers. I have had the pleasure of working with so many unique companies. I am very proud of all of the content that has been made so far on my page and can’t thank the photographers and videographers enough that I have met along the way. I do want the world to know that it does take time to grow your fitness platform and doesn’t happen overnight. It has now been almost 4 years since I started intensely working out and did my first shoot. Along the way, I have realized that you can’t please everyone. I try to post workouts, recipes, health tips, and what I am doing in preparation for dental school as much as I can. People will still ask why you aren’t posting enough or will always have things to say. You have to learn to just ignore it and know you are doing the best you can.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend came to visit Houston, I would take her to an F45 West University Class and YES Yoga class. We would stay at the Post Oak Hotel and enjoy some time at the spa. I would have to take her to Pappasito’s for some tex-mex since she lives in Nashville. I would take her to a Houston sports event, depending on the season. We would most likely go to the Toyota Center for a concert since most artists come on tour here. I also would love to take her to the Houston Rodeo if it was in season. There are so many fun places to eat and drink here, I wouldn’t even know where to start. I definitely would show her around the Galleria as well!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my parents for helping me get to where I am now. I couldn’t be this far without them!
