We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, what’s your definition for success?
Success to me is the ability to have the freedom to create freely with no restraints, no stress, no worries, and abundant in every aspect of your life.

What should our readers know about your business?
Selfcare can be a very powerful tool in helping manage stress and improve overall well being. I’ve always known my purpose in life was to bring healing touch to others. From serving in the US Navy to being a frontline CNA during the pandemic. I believe that touch is more than just a skin to skin interaction, it’s a healing factor and a basic need. In all these places I’ve been, I saw a HUGE need for a wellness space putting spotlight on the need for black wellness. And that’s why I created Kinky Beauty Club.

What sets us apart is that we love everyone but our main focus is the health and wellbeing of the black community. We as black people need spaces where we can be ourselves in and feel safe. There are plenty places and groups where the black are not people are just not welcomed, overlooked, and misunderstood. Most importantly, we are made to feel out of place and have to dim our light to “fit in”. At KBC, this is a safe place where the black woman can be herself, and doesn’t have to shrink or silence herself. We are for the black people, PERIOD.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In a weeks time Ill take them to all my favorite food spots; The Breakfast Klub, Lotus Seafood, Whiskey Cake Kitchen and Timmy Chans, Get them a drink at Grade A Daiquiris and Bombshells Pearland. Hit up Galveston and walk the seawall. Go shopping at The Galleria and Bay brook mall. And of course take them out to SkyBox and The Address

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my little sister, Janea. She has been my right hand and here by my side through all my ups and downs. I am the 1st business owner in my family so as I’m learning and going through all these emotions, she’s right here with me pushing me and telling me to keep going. We had a rough childhood and our bond has only gotten tighter since I started Kinky Beauty Club. I Love you sis and thank you for EVERYTHING you do. See you at the top!
