Meet Ally Buckner | Healthy Hair Enthusiast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ally Buckner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ally, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Like many during the Covid pandemic I found myself locked in the house with hours of free time. I have always been a fan of natural products for people with sensitive skin like me. During the pandemic I started creating my own natural hair cremes and washes after months of not being able to see my beautician in person. After doing some research I realized that there are a TON of hair products on the market for women but not many that are all natural and specifically tailored to men of color. Coming from a large family of men and being the only girl in a sibling group of three, I have had to deal with constantly sharing everything from hair products to shampoo my entire life. I started giving samples of my beard oil to a few male family members and friends and within a few months Bearded By Buckner was born!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Most of my career experience is in the mental health field so I am all about uplifting others. People pay so much attention to how others look on the outside but really it is whats on the inside that counts. Many beautiful men and women are silently dealing with depression and anxiety. Bearded By Bucker is a self empowerment brand that focuses on looking and feeling good about yourself. I provide access to affordable beard products that are all natural and promote healthy skin and hair growth. Creating this brand has taught me that nothing in life comes easy but hard work truly pays off. The biggest lesson I have learned is that you have to believe in yourself even if no one else does.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite hidden gems in Houston is Chinatown. Full of culture and amazing restaurants, Chinatown offers a variety of cuisine options from Ramen soup to fried ice cream. Its always a fun adventure to explore the Asian markets which are filled with lots of unique seafood selections, as well as one of my favorite drinks which is bubble tea with tapioca. The reflexology shops are great as well for a nice inexpensive foot massage.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have an awesome and very supportive group of friends that are all business owners striving to create generational wealth for themselves and their families. I am inspired by them every day. We all come from humble beginnings and are pushing our way to the top.
