We had the good fortune of connecting with Ally Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ally, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Photography grew into more than a hobby after my son was born. I was a first-time Mama following my baby around with my camera just to capture as much of this season I could before it drifted away. He will never be as little as he is now. I wanted to capture every giggle, new skill, and sweet cuddle. I learned how important it is to capture the milestones AND the little things. We don’t know what the future holds. Life is too short to miss any moment! We will never be this young again. I will forever cherish the photos I have of my little family & I can’t wait to look back on them years from now to replay those sweet memories.

I dreamed about the impact I could have on other families through the storytelling that is photography. When a friend trusted me to photograph the announcement of her first baby, I learned just how close photography is to my heart. I want to remind others how beautiful and unique they are. I created Ally Davis Photography to bring joy to others through creating and capturing authentic memories.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a lifestyle photographer based in Conroe, Texas. I create art through the storytelling of photography. I specialize in maternity, boudoir, and family portraits, My prayer is that I could spread joy and show my clients just how beautiful they are. I love connecting with others and getting to hear their stories. I am in love with capturing real, authentic moments– the connection between a mama and her newborn baby, the way a husband looks at his wife, children playing by the water, and women feeling empowered.

I have been completely overwhelmed by the amount of support I’ve recieved throughout this process. I am just so thankful for everyone who shares my work, likes my posts, and allows me to capture their special moments. This journey has not been easy so far, but I believe that all great things are worth working hard for. I am learning each day and working hard to invest in myself through mentorships, classes, and being out in the field. It is such an incredible feeling to watch the growth before my own eyes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend were to visit Houston, I would first take for coffee and breakfast at Hebrews Coffee- a local coffee stop in North Houston. Hebrews has so many delicious coffee flights and iced coffee flavors to choose from. I would suggest the Lavender Honey Latte and an avocado toast!

We would spend the day out exploring the city, followed by a picnic at Hermann Park. This park is close to local attractions such as the zoo and Miller Outdoor Theatre. I love the rose garden and the lake picnic area. I think its a gorgeous place to get fresh air and spend quality time together. We would end the evening dancing at Stampede Houston. I love putting on my cowboy boots and getting to Texas two-step. Stampede plays various types of music and has an amazing night life. They even have karaoke!I love to take my friends from other states here and watch them ride the mechanical bull!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love this so much! I think everyone deserves encouragement and recognition for all they do.

I would like to shout out the group of local photographers in our area. There are too many to name, but I just want to say it is so magical to work with and learn from a group of other creatives. I believe in community over competition and I love getting to hype up other photographers! There is truly so much talent in our area! I have multiple friends who are photographers and I have really enjoyed getting to model for each other. Every photographer is unique in their own way and that’s the magic of creating art!!

I would also like to shoutout my husband. He is always encouraging me and helping me chase my dreams. Since I began photography, he has always dreamed with me about all my business could become. He really trusts my ideas and helps me make them a reality. He is so incredibly selfless and makes many sacrifices so I can spend many hours editing my photos and working with clients. Knowing that someone believes in you is the driving force that keeps you pressing on even when there are obstacles in your way! I am so thankful to have such a supportive partner.
