We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Kuhl/Kelly Donawa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber Kuhl/Kelly Donawa, how do you define success?
Amber-For me, success is a moving target. It’s not a destination. I felt accomplished when I reached a certain level of production in real estate, then when I hired a certain number of agents, then when I opened an office. I will never truly feel widely successfully, honestly, because there are still many more things I want to achieve in life. It’s just about being happy in the journey.

Kelly- I define success as being able to reach goals collaboratively. True success isn’t achieved unless everyone associated with a specific goal has reached theirs, as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Both-Being in this business for a total of 16 years, we saw an opportunity to really highlight our agents, their marketing, and exceed client expectations, all within a beautiful brand, in a truly innovative way. It’s not just about putting a home online, it’s about an experience.

Kelly, spent 13 years working in technology sales and leadership. “It taught me the value of providing exceptional customer service and solutions to any issue that may arise,” she says. “I transitioned into a career that would allow me to help others with their individual goals, as opposed to those of a large corporation.”

Amber worked in a designer kitchen and bath showroom, learning the inner workings of the design and construction industries. “Real estate gives me the ability to express my creative side through marketing properties while satisfying my passion for helping others. The success of The Collection is truly a dream come true,” Amber says. Together, they manage a team of stellar agents that focus on buyers and sellers across all of Houston.

With a reputation for making each client and agent feel like they are the only one, their agents are patient, thorough, and effective problem solvers. It’s a style that serves them well. In 2019, the year opened their flagship office in The Woodlands area, with a second one opening in the Northeast Houston area in 2021.

Actively involved in the community, the team donates a portion of all proceeds to ThisIsHouston, an animal rescue group. It also supports many other nonprofits, as well as global and local disaster-relief efforts.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Kelly-Brass Tacks for coffee. Lunch at The Post, Houston, choose your favorite local food and enjoy it while sitting on the rooftop deck overlooking the city skyline. Then to the art mural wall, and Cider Cade. I could go on and on…..

Amber-I just want to turn my phone off and drink Palomas at Goode Co. Cantina. That’s all. You can’t require more than that, Lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Amber-I’m so thankful for my peers, friends, and mentors that helped guide me along the way. I had some amazing guidance in my journey. I’ve also had the honor of mentoring some incredible agents that became lifelong friends.

Kelly-I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to achieve the things I have in this business without the love and support of my family at home. I’m incredibly thankful for my peers and mentors along the way in my real estate journey, for taking time to show me how to be the best version of myself in this business.
