We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Simpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, what role has risk played in your life or career?

Risk taking is essential to both personal and professional growth. It involves stepping out of your comfort zone, challenging yourself and taking a chance on something that may not evolve to be the outcome you want. It can be a scary thing to do, yet I find it invigorating.
I’ve taken many risks banking on life and taking chances, which could result in setbacks or failures. However, what I’ve discovered along the way is that it’s all about pivoting. LIfe seems to work out despite the pivots. I’ve moved to many places across the US and job roles to advance my career as a therapist, coach and consultant. I’ve taken many chances on myself and my abilities in both my professional and personal life. I would do it all again and keep taking risks as they are with great reward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

Awesome, yes, let’s discuss. My career continues to evolve and grow. The journey to get where I am today has been filled with so many twists and turns. Not all of it was easy but the not-easy-part is also something I don’t think about often. From first going to college for accounting, dropping out and going back to college for Social Work. To living in multiple cities across the US trying to figure myself out and new opportunities. I’ve learned along the way to trust in myself and that no matter what, life always has a way of having you land on your feet. I’ve learned to trust in that as well.
I have grown within the healthcare system from starting off as an ER Technician to now developing and implementing new programs within healthcare systems. Outside of that, my entrepreneur spirit kicked in with the need to provide more services to the community. I have founded and own two successful businesses – Eunoia Wellness Counseling and AS Coaching.
AS Coaching is a non-clinical coaching and consulting business worldwide. It focuses on career development and wellness (sleep, nutrition, movement, stress-reduction, etc.).
Eunoia Wellness Counseling is a clinical therapy business serving residents in Illinois and Texas for sleep therapy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmm, that’s a little tough as I moved to Houston right before COVID started. I feel as though I’m still learning the city. I think for a long weekend trip, it’s best to sample the different flavors of the area. There are plenty of parks to walk in. I like to host game night at my house with friends and would probably have a game night to have my best friend meet my friends. We’d check out local restaurants and bars. If we feel up to it, hit up a 90s night. We would probably do a mini road trip to either the beach or hill country. We are easy people to please and can have fun anywhere.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I guess in the words of Snoop Dog – I would like to thank me.
I’m kidding and low key for real haha
There are many people throughout my life that have equally played/and playing a role in who I’ve become today. I wouldn’t say there was one particular person, group or organization that stands out more than others. They are all equal in their own right. I have been very blessed with family, friends, colleagues, mentors, supervisors, and employers that have all contributed to my success.
