We had the good fortune of connecting with Amia Breayna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, it was originally Amia’s idea and after bringing it to Breayna, we felt it was 100% possible. After having had constant ideas we felt it was time to finally make our ideas a reality. Starting a hat business could actually be done! A lot of our core motivation centers around being from Houston and wanting to be well known as a brand for our creative directions. We wanted to quite literally be on the heads of Houstonians.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our name is Amia Breayna, this is a mixture our middle names. Our brand is very much centered around our friendship and our roots. Having been from the same town, moved to Houston at a young age, and meeting at a charter school we felt like it was part of our purpose to be friends. We hope our hats reflect the harmony in our friendship. Amia Breayna is specifically a headwear brand. Though some people may see this as a weakness, we see ourselves going far because we have the luxury of specializing in a specific product and niche. When it comes to starting a business, it was a lot harder than we though it’d be. It’s a lot of time, money and frustration but once you start, it’s hard to stop going. Even the small successes feel all that much more rewarding.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Monday: We are taking our friend to the very delicious Krazy Katsu & Udon for take out and a movie night at our loft apartment.
Tuesday: Tuesday we will travel to Buffalo Bayou Park to show them the city and have a wholesome picnic.
Wednesday: On Wednesday we would gather some friends to play kickball at Memorial Park and then to Happy Teahouse for a sweet treat.
Thursday: We don our little shirts and big pants for a shopping trip at the Galleria and then Burganic Hub for juicy vegan burgers just around the corner. That night we hit up Uptown Lounge and enjoy some CBD hookah amongst our peers.
Friday: On Friday we grab our heels and head to Jinya Ramen Bar for a hearty bowl of ramen and sake. After that, we’re party our butts off at Electric Feelgood and more of our favorite clubs in the Midtown area.
Saturday: We love to splurge at a little spot called BCN Taste & Tradition for great cocktails and Spanish food. To close the night, we’re getting lit in a section at Spire Night Club.
Sunday: This day we put on our Sunday best for some brunch at Sixty Vines and recover from the night with relaxing pedicures at Evon Nail Spa.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to dedicate this shoutout to our friendship which has played a major part in our identity as a brand, our spirit guides that continue to pave the way for our success and of course all our supporters!
