We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, what inspires you?
What inspires me most is life as a whole. I’m inspired daily by the liveliness of the bees working in the garden, the beauty in the plants and the process of their growth. To think that a tiny seed can produce and supply us with a bounty of food, that in itself is amazing! The ecosystem of the garden, all things working together, is very inspirational. I’m inspired by my family and friends that have encouraged and supported me. They are the original idea behind my business. I wanted to support their health with organic produce and yummy fun treats that have helped them to develop a love for not only veggies but gardening. I am forever inspired by the good in the world. There is so much in it so hen you look around. Often I will give products away if I feel called to and that is part of the pay it forward system. You put as much good into the world as you can and hope that it inspires others to do the same.
What should our readers know about your business?
What I really love about my business is that is it is so focused on local, sustainability and it supports the ideology of organic gardening. We won 1st place for Best Specialty Food Store in the Readers Choice Award for The Leader Newspaper in our first year! That was very exciting! Our business has definitely changed as we have grown. With demand, we reached out to local farmers for more produce and some products we carried were retired. A lot of times, you just have to go with the change, it always works out in the end!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I LOVE local shops! Henderson&Kane is one of my FAVORITE places in Houston! They carried my products plus tons of other local makers, their BBQ is THE BEST and it’s basically the cutest little nostalgic general store your ever find yourself browsing in. We would definitely swing over to The Branch off Long Point for my favorite burger, the Out-N-In burger with cheesy tots and a fabulous Pickle Margarita made with pickles from yours truly! You have to check out EggHaus gourmet for breakfast and grab a cup of coffee from Throughgood Coffee. Of course we would be at Houston Height Market, where you can find me every Sunday!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow! My family, friends, customers and so many other small businesses that have been an amazing source of encouragement and support!
