We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Purcell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristen, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Being a parent is all encompassing…there are so many things that we do as parents that have a huge impact on our children. In regards to my art and business, I have been able to teach my children that there is not only one path to success. That if you have a talent it is absolutely possible to serve the community with that talent while simultaneously creating a great living for your family. All it takes is a lot of determination, hard work, willingness to never stop growing, and above all amazing customer service.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most passionate about creating maternity portraits. These portraits are created during a time when most women feel their most vulnerable. It’s a time of great change, strength, and beauty that deserves to be not only documented, but celebrated. My simple and classic style gives women memories that showcase their body during pregnancy in the most beautiful way, and the entire experience is empowering.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh my gosh…so many people have been an important part of my story. First and foremost, I have amazingly supportive family and friends who are always there to help with anything! Whether it’s words of advise or encouragement to helping me build something for my studio they’re always there. I can also thank the many educators in my field of maternity, newborn, and portraiture in general. There are so many amazing artists who are willing to share their craft to help budding photographers find their own journey. I have learned from many artists throughout the 10 years I’ve been in business.
