We had the good fortune of connecting with Anali Alonso and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anali, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always had love and passion for acting and modeling and a couple of years ago finally I had the opportunity and time to persuade my passion. I LOVE movies since I was a little girl, I would re-create my favorite characters with my own twist or create new ones. I always participated in plays and at family reunions my cousin and I would dress up and entertain, bringing unique stories to life. I started acting classes with Page Parkes here in Houston two years ago and I haven’t stopped since then. Taking classes online, in person, and in other states including stunt training and networking events. I’m very passionate about this career.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a trained actress in commercials, print and film currently training with an LA Acting School and aspiring model Trained and Coached by Coco Rocha herself in New York.
One of the things that sets me apart is what I just mentioned above and also that I’ve been training in learning different styles and methods in acting and not just getting stuck in a box. I’m very curious and adventurous which led me to train how Action Actors train, with stunt training. I’m also fearless and spontaneous, if an opportunity to learn or train comes I just go for it. For instance last month my Stunt Coach from Atlanta texted me about a Tactical Training for Film Workshop and I went.
I’m where I am professionally by networking, researching, training and not giving up. This field is not easy. I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way. I made mistakes and if there’s anything I’ve learned is to not share too much info and to just focus on what matters and embrace the journey.
Entering this field at an older age intimidated me and at the beginning I was a bit insecure. But with time I’ve been growing my confidence and I want women of my age and Latinas to see that even if life is hard sometimes or challenging its never too late to reach for that dream.
Life is so beautiful and I want to live the rest of it working on making that dream a reality.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a foodie so probably go out to eat everyday, that’s one of the best things I love about Houston so many great restaurants with all different types of food. One of my favorites is the Chicken Fried Lobster tails from Steak 48 and their drinks. I will definitely add a bike ride at the Bayou then go check out different coffee shops and eat tacos along the way. Would also do a trip to the gun range and another to the Houston Axe Throwing.
Hopefully catch a good play at one of the Theaters, watch Movies, and check out some museums.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout first to my small family for their support and for being there to watch my kids when I need to travel for training and networking events. My small list of friends who encourage me and are there to listen and guide me in this industry. To my agency Page Parkes for giving me a chance and to all my fellow actors that I’ve met along the way for their advice and support, especially Alfonso Aguirre. My coach Mark Dong, owner of Dragon’s Den Self Defence Academy in Katy. Nate and Sarah from Action for Actors in Atlanta formally known as LA Stunts. Coco Rocha for her encouraging words and guidance. To Tetiana Gaidar for being such an inspiration and support. And lastly shoutout to Jon Vincent (Jon Jon) my boxing coach and personal trainer.
