Meet Andrew Martinez | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I think for our band no matter what life has thrown our way we have always been able to push through. Bad or good, we have always had great communication with every member and can get through anything!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Forever Miles is a family story of brotherhood and friendship. A band formed by family members AJ (Guitar/Vocals) and Myself (Andy-Drums/Vocals). We have been writing music since we were kids and through the years as a 2-Piece have added to the family with our good friend Sergio (Bass) and his girlfriend Rochelle (Trumpet/Keys). This family came from different backgrounds and scattered musical influences but on one night after being friends for some time we had to Jam together and boy was it magical . Catchy guitar licks with groovy bass hits filled the room , while Progressive monstrous beats and Bright intense brass transitions shaped the air. Being in the room together is amazing every time. We write as a team and a family and it’s great to work with family making magic. We’re proud to be with each other on stage and in the studio it makes working easy and so much fun its the proudest we’ve ever felt on stage. We all had to work really hard on our craft and it shows not only with our instruments but our work ethic. We all want each other to thrive and feel heard , not one idea goes unsaid it helps us flourish to write and paint our picture as best we can on canvas. Easy? Working together was always fluent but we all had to work out with each other and fix the kinks. The music was worth it though , the songs curated by it was too good to not push for. We try to strive and stay open and experiment with it and help us grow to become better and more intone with each other like musical soulmates lol (if that makes sense). We want the world to see how much you can love music and enjoy the people you hear , play , and write it with. THAT’S what Forever Miles is about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
They would have to see the city how we do and go for a bike ride. Our trails give off a vibe of a city that can’t be seen without it. Eleanor Tinsley Park is the best on any day. Maybe grab some Henderson an Kanes while we’re in the area. They have some GREAT breakfast/brunch and maybe some Catalina Coffee on the way out too. We’d definitely have to check out Axelrad after to enjoy the day outside and maybe catch one of their movie nights or dj nights. If not there is always an Astros game! I’d love to show them Captain Fox heart’s for a drink or two it’s a personal fave . Phoenicia’s Downtown would be next to show how much Houston loves diversity of foods because who doesn’t love food?! We’d also have to check in on some other places like Darwins Pub for some karaoke and Rudyard’s for some comedy . You can’t go wrong with Montrose , or the Heights. The people here are so diverse and interesting people from all over the world come to Houston and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d love to thank all our fans and family members along the way for giving us the opportunity to play and express ourselves to the fullest of our hearts content. It helps us push harder and continue to enjoy these beautiful moments together. We love you and can’t wait to show you guys what’s next!
