We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelica Poole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelica, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised right here in Houston, Texas. My dad had his own business for over 35 years. He was able to provide for us while my mom was a stay at home mom and took care of five kids. Both of my parents were very hard workers. They did not have college degrees but did very well running their own business. My mom never worked outside the house but made sure her five kids were taken care of. My mom also helped my dad as much as possible with the business. They set a great example of entrepreneurship for us as we were growing up.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
People might be wondering why a t-shirt business. A t-shirt is more than just a shirt. T-shirts express who we are. They can communicate what you believe, how you are feeling or even what excites you. A t-shirt can make you laugh on a rough day or bring back a memory from a special occasion. T-shirts can be as unique as you. God, family and country are our core principals and influence our business standards. We are a veteran owned business. The golden rule of treating others the way you want to be treated is how we view each of our customers. I believe one of the things that sets us apart is that not only do we make custom t-shirts but we also do custom hoodies, masks, coffee cups, tumblers, socks, puzzles, glass coasters, neoprene coasters, flip flops, blankets and much more! We enjoy getting with our customers one on one and communicating with our customers to be able to create not only a t-shirt but an item that means something more and something they will love to wear! We love doing what we do and working with our customers to create something that’s meaningful either for them or for a love one! We love when a customer has an idea and we can help bring that idea to life either on a t-shirt or a personalized blanket! We put the same quality of effort into making one shirt as we do one hundred shirts. We treat every order with equal importance. We test all the products we print on before we sell them. We periodically continue our testing approach as we create new items. We make these products as if we were making them for ourselves. Starting a small business the same week the pandemic began was really hard and scary. We didn’t allow the pandemic to stop us and we went full force ahead! We had no control of the pandemic but we did have control of our business! I have learned you don’t ever quit when life gets tough, you just have to be tougher!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When our family or friends come to visit we always take them to Alicia’s Mexican Restaurant in Cypress. They have the best authentic Mexican food and great margaritas. We love going to the Star cinema where we can enjoy dinner and a movie at the same time. We also take them to some of the farmers market around town. Every farmers market is different and I am always amazed with the creativity of so many people. We love to support other small businesses! Going to visit NASA is always exciting for the whole family!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am so thankful for all the support we have received from our family, friends, and neighbors! I am also overwhelmed on all the support we have received from other local small businesses and our community. It was really hard starting a business right when the pandemic began last year. I believe that God has a reason for everything that happens to us during our lifetime. I am grateful that God has given us this opportunity to get to meet and get to know so many amazing people. To name of few of these are Popcorn Blast, Aryce Designs, Akilee Cooks Catering, and Securum Insurance Solutions. It has really been such a blessing to get to know a lot of these hard working and wonderful people.
