Meet Angelique Hudson | Houston Model&Front Desk Executive

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelique Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelique, how do you think about risk?
We take risk every day in my opinion, some are bigger and some are simply just deciding what socks to wear that day . As an entrepreneur in the modeling business you have to keep a layer of tough skin on at all times . Some agencies will see you and love you and wouldn’t change a thing about you, other times an agency will pick you apart and tell you you’re too skinny or too big , too short etc etc . Each day you market yourself as a model you risk hearing something about yourself you may not want to hear. I’ve been told for a good portion of my life growing up that I should model. The thing that essentially took me so long to actually try and get out there is not knowing what type of reaction I would receive. For one growing up specifically in the black community you didn’t see too many dark skin black models, it was always a form of self doubt and hesitation because the representation wasn’t there . Second the biggest risk factor for me personally was deciding to specifically do modest modeling. I mean I’d love the idea of being an all around model but I’ve come to the realization that I want to have my own sense of individuality. I don’t want to be the stereotypical half naked model posing for high fashion magazines ( Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with that being someone’s thing but it’s not my thing ) ; I’d rather pose in something I feel cute in while being in a decent amount of clothing , you know ?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Career wise , outside of modeling I work at the top dance studio in the region ( Fred Astaire Dance Studio Cypress) . This has actually helped me network and meet some pretty cool people in the industry ; which is honestly a huge blessing considering I’m just starting in this business. The proudest moment I’ve had was my first fashion show experience last year and it was ground breaking ! I knew it was something I would want to do . I haven’t had my big break yet, but that’s ok . I think sometimes we as entrepreneurs see the levels our role models are at and we want to rush and get to that spot , but God builds our stamina in his timing , and his timing is perfect . I’ve learned to take it one day at a time . Don’t put so much focus on the likes and your reach but actually enjoy your craft . I want people to know that I am here to uplift and build the self esteem of all women, and young girls . Despite the body type you see on the magazine’s you’re capable of being a model no matter your body type if that’s your dream the house for! Never let anyone make you feel like you have to fit this cookie cutter mold of a fashion model !

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whataburger for sure ! I’m actually craving a sweet and spicy bacon burger as well speak lol but that’s the go to spot ! Drinks and a spot to hang out would be Snooze for sure they have great prices on their drinks .. I’m kinda bougie so I steer towards wine and mimosa but their breakfast is to die for !!! Houston has really cool lounges and clubs as well I guess I’m a bit bias when it comes to hyping up my city

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely first and foremost want to shout out God because without him there is no me ! Second of course my mom because she brought me into this world and she gave me great looks . I wanna shoutout my siblings and my church Living Word Fellowship Church for growing me into the woman I am now , last but most certainly not least my friend group who is honestly more like an extension of my siblings . I love you guys !!
