We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Annie, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Everything about my life makes me happy! My kids are amazing people, their dad and I have a successful coparenting relationship. My pet dragon. I was terrified of reptiles until about 18 months ago. He reminds me how much I’ve changed. Motorsport racing. Who knew that the smell of racing fuel and burnt tires with the background noise of cars on track would be so exhilarating? Summer camp, fancy dresses, sling yoga, adventures. I am ridiculously in love with my life.Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2016 I was sitting in a cubicle trying not to cry every day. I took a vacation to go to summer camp for adults and knew that I needed to do something different. When I took my first sling yoga class I immediately signed up to become an instructor, flew to Spain for training and have dedicated my life to helping people see the world a little differently by turning them upside down. It has been the easiest decision I have ever made. I am so dedicated to sling yoga that it is more important than the chatter in my head telling me that I don’t know how to. I will figure it out. I threw everything I had at this business. Taken side jobs, whatever it takes to make this happen. What I want the world to know? I want the world to know that your dreams are valid and valuable. That when you are ready to step into your greatness, the world is waiting for you.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, I would get them into vacation mode by sending them to Blissful Waters float spa in The Woodlands. Then I would send them to Deacon Baldy’s food trucks and have them get BBQ from the BBQ Godfather. It’s the best! Then send them on a Ghost Tour in Old Town Spring. So much history, And ghosts!!! Then I always love the murals tour, great pictures and get to see the city. And I’ve always wanted to checkout The FOMO Factory in Houston. It was started by a tribe sister and fellow summer camper friend of mine, who we lost last year. I just found out it’s still a thing. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, Tracy Peck of Creations Market and Workshop in Old Town Spring. I started a ukulele club two years ago and she was nice enough to offer her space for us to host gatherings. We never learned to play ukulele, but our table time chats are what helped me not give up during those entrepreneurial times of doubt. Second, is Lindsayann Anderson of The Tailored Teacher. I love education, but have never been a fan of school. I’ve parented 24 kids and some don’t do well in a formal setting. Two of my boys are enrolled in her program and I no longer have to worry about heading to school three times a week for various reasons. That helps me focus on what I do best , helping women find their RAWR.
