We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony McMorris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Starting around the year of 2008 teaching and assisting some summer time art classes for kids then in 2016 painting classes, mostly for adults, the inspiration and my passion for doing art recharged. The words from my dad “you’re an artist” began to play over and over in the back of my head. Then the encouraging words from those who would return to my classes, colleagues who also provided me advice, later would mentor me, gave me the confidence to pursue my passion as an artist and also to share and give back by now offering private art classes at MyArtToolBox.

I am a traditional contemporary artist, so I wanted classes that would keep this style of art implemented into my classes for both kids and adults. Of course there are somethings I recall as a kid that I absolutely enjoyed in art class which I felt was fading away and wanted to keep these traditions going.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At My Art Toolbox we have a host of art classes in various disciplines to offer to young and older art aspirants. We teach art classes using selective mediums. You select and we will guide and teach from our personal and professional experiences and backgrounds. For those aspired in drawing, with no experience to beginner we can teach and guide you yo creating mesmerizing drawings from still life, detailed drawings and much more using graphite, pastels, colored pencils or charcoal, as you desire.

What would be a most proud time is having the opportunity from kids to adults to share my experiences and give back to any one of them something that that is inspiring enough to help them to continue their art and will be a positive lifetime memory.

I think when those that who take or have taken classes with me at MyArtToolBox see and feel how much I enjoy what I do in giving back in art has helped me along the way to getting to where I am with MyArtToolBox today.

Lessons I’ve learned is to always find joy in what you do. This is the beauty that to where not just creating great works of art but also in giving your great work back into your community.

MyArtToolBox is all about you! Everyone and anyone who loves art and has a passion for art. Our mission is to bring joy and peace into your hearts and minds each class taken and to enhance your artistic gift with positive lifetime memories.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For sure downtown Houston would be my go to! It’s filled with art activities year around and has some of the best art exhibits at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH). There are all types of good foods to enjoy in the downtown area as well. Houston is very well known for offering different cultural cuisines. This would be ideal for Friday and Saturday activities.

I think a road trip to San Antonio’s Riverwalk for a Sunday through Tuesday would be an enjoyable time to visit. It’s very centralized in San Antonio and you can get some shopping in, pickup some souvenirs and enjoy some great food from some very populate tasting good foods at the Riverwalk.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my art teacher from my high school “Mrs. Botas” for believing in me as an artist who took the extra time to assist me as a young aspiring artist.

Shoutout to my parents and many other family and friends (you know who you are) who supported me as a kid and continue to support me.

Shoutout to my art teacher during the summers in my teenage years “Mr. Paul” who was a great inspiration and masterful art teacher and who also selected me to assist him in his younger kids classes. This was also the time where I discovered my interest and happiness in helping others pursue their passion as an artist.
