We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Burnett-Petite and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacqueline, what do you attribute your success to?
I hold customer service and relations to a high level of importance. From the very start of my business I realized that having that individual connection with my clients made the difference in their experience and if they became a returning client. I’m constantly pushing myself to be better. As my business is growing, I’m always asking myself how I can remain involved in some aspect and make sure my clients still feel that sense of care when they enter into a business relationship with me. I do understand that with growth comes change, but I believe also that being genuine and true to your passions and beliefs will also continue to insinuate the growth in which you want to achieve, SUCCESS!
What should our readers know about your business?
My business encompasses Financial Planning Services and Math Tutoring. I’ve always believed that the combination of both of these services is my niche, it’s a unique mix and it sets me apart from other businesses. It draws curiosity from others who want to know why I meshed the two together. Youth empowerment, the empowerment of people, being an educator have always been my reasons behind the meaning. Getting to where I am today with my business has been a very interesting journey. Yes, I have had some rough patches along the way. However, perseverance and keeping my mind focused on my reason and goals are what kept me going. Like I said before, I’m a firm believer in “with growth comes change”. I know that every road I take in my business ventures may not always be the best or the easiest, but as I move through these different levels of business I am acquiring knowledge and experience that will help me to reach my ultimate goals. I do not let a challenge stop me. I just think how it can help me or how can I use this to reach the next level in my business. I want to be seen not only as a small business that made it, but as a business that began with one woman who had one dream to make a change in the world one step at a time. I want my business to be seen as a single mark in the industry that flourished into full frame.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend on a week long adventure to see the culture of the city. Taking tours of the different areas of where I grew up, while also taking in the many views the city has to offer. I’m also big on food and I’m all about trying new foods. I love to support small business restaurants and also black owned businesses. I’m sure I would use Instagram as my research tool to find the some of the best eateries in the city. I like to tour the city as a tourist versus a long time resident. I’m always up to try new things and visit new places to broaden my horizons.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely like to dedicate this shoutout to my family. My momma has always been my biggest cheerleader and the love and support that I receive on a daily from her is always more than enough. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without my momma. My wife and sisters have always been there for me and supporting me anytime that I needed them. They’ve been my ear to listen when I’m just spouting ideas and thoughts. I appreciate everything that they have done for me and just for being there for me. My son, my love, the reason why I continue to push through and why mediocrity isn’t an option. I do everything for him because I want to be that momma of the year, that inspiration, the role model, leader, and mentor the he looks up to and aspires to be. I love all of you so much and I know that I wouldn’t be were I am today without each of you.
