We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariane Cienfuegos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ariane, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking a risk enables and encourages improvement in all areas of life which can be an important factor towards success. When risks are taken they can either fail or become a big success. Although failing seems devastating, it’s not always a negative thing. Prior to my small business ELOTEX, I took the risk of opening other small business. I had dropped my full-time job for these businesses, which didn’t end up succeeding. It was upsetting but I learned and grew more as an entrepreneur.

After failing at the attempt of having my small business, I got a full-time job again. Months later the pandemic hit Houston, Texas. The pandemic came out of nowhere, so I ended up loosing my job once again. I was clueless of what I was going to do but I knew I had to do something to provide for my little family. Once again, I decided to take a big risk. I used the little savings I had saved to start ELOTEX. Corn in a cup was always my favorite snack growing up. I got the idea to invent my own authentic sauces and ingredients for this specific snack. So I began doing it and through many trials and errors, I found my favorite touch. I started to promote ELOTEX in what seems in every corner, including social media. After hard work, I eventually grew big and that is something I never thought would happen. Taking this big risk was an eye opener for me that even after many letdowns you cannot be afraid to take the risk and follow your dreams. I am forever grateful for all the support my customers have given me and completely blessed.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business consists of a delicious corn in a cup, here in houston I have learned its called street corn. Elotex concept is to prepare it to however you like. Its an awesome bar experience for any type of events , or we deliver to your door step to fulfill your corn cravings. I think what sets us apart from others is our authentic sauces and that our corn is natural and mixed. Mixed as in yellow and white corn, which gives it the best of both worlds, the crunchy of the white corn and the sweet of the yellow.
I got to where I’m at today because I was consistent with my business, something that is not easy at all. I am still not where I would like to be so I am still going through challenges. How I’ve managed them till now is staying positive, not giving up, trying to fulfil my dreams, and being successful, and every single thing I do is for my kids, so I can be the best example I can to them. I’ve learned that having a business is basically working 24 hours a day, doing everything, social media, marketing, preparing, delivering, working, and improving my business. I’d like the world to know that Elotex is one of the many unique businesses out there with our delicious and authentic sauces.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m actually not from the area, so I am still getting to know the city myself. We still haven’t had the chance to explore any places other than kid friendly places. So if I had to choose, it would be the Houston Children’s Museum, the zoo, and the park, my kids love all those places. I’m actually a person who loves to be home, doing more chilled things I don’t drink a lot is very rarely that I do, but one thing
I do love is to eat sushi and there’s a place called edo japan and its a buffet, other than the kid friendly place that’s one where I will take my friend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
shoutout to my kids for pushing me to never give up and keep trying to make something for them and to be a great role model for them.
