Meet Asha Caraballo | Creative Video Producer & Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Asha Caraballo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Asha, how do you define success?
Gosh, you know what, I’ve always felt like there needs to be more of an open discussion about the definition of success nowadays. Mine? It has absolutely zero to do with wordly things. You can have all of the money in the world, all of the fame, all of the recognition and validation – and it one thousand percent will not be enough. Me saying that might turn heads and make stomachs churn, but I’m standing ten toes down on it.
Success, to me, is defined completely by what’s going on inward. In your mind, in your internal world. How you speak to yourself, to others, how you navigate difficult times – how you cope in the darkness. Your relationship with vulnerability, faith and truth is a big one.
To be successful is to believe in something bigger than yourself. To have faith in the unknown, to embrace truth and humility. If you can do that, you can do anything. All of the little things that the world defines as ‘success’, will essentially fall into your lap. You won’t have to do much to receive it. Zero chase. Don’t overcomplicate it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Even though my craft has always been part of my life one way or another, I’m definitely in a new season. I’ve had very high, highs and worked on projects I couldn’t have imagined for myself. Which has led to my network growing super quickly.
I’m in a transitional period now of ‘honing in’ on what really feels the most like me. Yes, I can produce, direct, run camera, take on post-production, whatever – but what do I want to identify the most with in this new season? It’s definitely something I’m working through.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh my I simply love showing my friends this city. Coffee is a MUST – there are so many good spots. Right now my favs are Pavon, Campesino, Della…. all are walking distance from me. One of the things I love most about Houston is that there’s always a concert to go too, so we’d definitely hit that, maybe a museum, or the park if it’s not a million degrees.
There’s food for every single craving here so it totally depends on the vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a lot of the reason I’ve kept going creatively, to my parents. My dad bought my first little point and shoot when I was about 8 years old, and since that day, he has never stopped pushing me to pursue what I love. Even when I fell off course and pursued other avenues, he was always there to remind me of what I’m meant to do. My parents have always always always supported what I do.
My friends are absolutely no different. They are so great at effortlessly reminding me of who I am and what I offer in the moments where I struggle to see it for myself. It’s never a question of if they’re going to support me or not. They’re always there. I truly lucked out!
