Meet David C. Lowy | Vice President Houston Electric Vehicle Association

We had the good fortune of connecting with David C. Lowy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David C., we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
I’m pleased when driving my electric car and find myself at an intersection with only other electric cars around me. This makes me happy because it indicates the increasingly rapid adoption of this technology which holds such tremendous promise for the safer future of driving.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I wanted to help spread general knowledge about electric cars and suggested to Houston Electric Vehicle Association that we do a radio show on that subject. I was the host of the show, “EV Hub” which ran from April through October of 2025 on KPFT 90.1 FM radio in Houston, Texas, in which I interacted and performed with our producer and “co-stars” and guests. For this I was made Vice president of our local Electric Vehicle Association. I believe I have influenced others to switch to electric, and have heard glowing reports of their satisfaction. I look forward to a world of cars that drive themselves and greatly reduce the horrible number of annual traffic-related injuries and fatalities throughout the world. I am encouraged by the number and variety of electric vehicles that are already on our roads and even more so worldwide. I’ve learned that it is mainly a lack of knowledge that makes people hesitant to consider trying this incredible technology. I want to continue helping people realize the many advantages of driving electric. Having ridden in an autonomous taxi with no driver, I’ve seen what a smooth, pleasurable and practical form of transportation this can be. I’ve even piloted an all electric passenger drone, and been a passenger in an electric glider, and realized what tremendous potential there is for electric mobility. It really feels like the world is discovering electricity all over again, and when these vehicles can be recharged by solar power, the improvements to our environment can be unlimited. With over six billion cars in the world, switching to electric just makes sense; over the coming decades this would lower our planet’s temperature significantly.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to “The Ginger Mule”, a wonderful vegan restaurant that prepares artistic and delicious meals. Anything you order is vegan, so there’s no need to ask.
Memorial park is a great place for a long walk in the woods, where the renovations of recent years make for a tremendous, often peaceful environment. The work continues there, refining more of the many trails, with numerous activities available.
Hermann Park is another major city park with a different vibe and a wide range of attractions.
There are many movie theaters with luxury seating.
Only fifty miles away is Galveston Island, a good place to wander on the beach, or even rent an electric Model T for an hour or more. Lots of history there as it was the principle city of Texas before the massive hurricane at the beginning of the 20th century.
For a look at the stars, visit Brazos Bend State Park on a Saturday night, where the sky is really dark away from the city lights. Amateur astronomers bring their telescopes, and if you arrive early enough, you can buy a ticket to peep through the big telescope in the observatory.
Nearby for a day trip is The George Ranch; you can see what life was like in the old days.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
