We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashlee Boudreaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashlee, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue this career path because I craved a life where I would be able to use my God given talents to generate income, and also be able to express myself creatively at the same time. Being an artist or creator of anything requires a vision. Creatives tend to have all of these beautiful visions in our head, but don’t know how to express them effectively. I know it’s cliché, but I wanted to make my passion my paycheck. Over the past decade, I’ve had to delve deep into my creative gifts, and try to understand which ones I could not only monetize, but also decipher which ones would allow me to share with and inspire the masses. Whether it be making them feel like a better version of themselves physically, or helping my clients ascend and become the master version of themselves spiritually, mentally and emotionally. My success solely depends on those who support and believe in me and my creative gifts.
What should our readers know about your business?
Glow Artistry Houston is my baby. I began my career as a professional makeup artist 8 years ago, soon after graduating with an A.A.S. in Cosmetology from San Jacinto College. I quickly realized that a life behind the chair wasn’t for me, but I was still very passionate about color and skin theory. My life as a MUA began there. I started out working for cosmetics brands, and over the years I was able to grow in the corporate cosmetics world and climbed my way up to Sales & Education Coordinator as well as Account Executive roles. This is the achievement that I am most proud of in my cosmetics career. It was definitely not easy. I had to keep faith in God and my in my gifts and know that there was more for me. I learned that no matter what curveballs life throws at you, and no matter what is taken away from you by people…your talents and gifts can NEVER be taken for you. I want everyone reading this to know that I am my brand. What you see when you see my work, is the essence of me. I put my all into everything that I do, and I try to shine my light upon others in all business moves that I make. It’s only up from here.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Two words: Sushi King. That is my go to place for amazing sushi, a great atmosphere, and great drinks, plus who doesn’t love Greenway Plaza? We would definitely visit the Menil Collection and Rothko Chapel, any maybe take a stroll through Hermann Park if the weather is nice. We’d stay at Hotel Zaza at Memorial City, because the Art and details put into that establishment are top tier. I’d even throw in a drive down to Galveston Island to ride the ferry and have lunch at The Spot for good measure.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for God. Let’s start there. My parents, who have always believed in my gifts and supported all of my business endeavors. All of my clients from all over the country, they have supported me since day one, and continue to support my small businesses even during the current climate. I am so grateful for all of them.
