We had the good fortune of connecting with Laie Holloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being a veteran, I was looking for an out to express myself. I was always told I have a very creative mind. So to take pictures and and create art is my escape.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, I started out as a graphic artist. Designing websites, flyers, album covers and such, so therefore I knew how to edit pictures to give them the certain look. And I’ve learned through the years, how to make people feel confident and comfortable. I also know how to capture the right moments. And my shooting process is tailored towards the model.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well growing up in the 409, I would start off in Galveston. We’d go for a bike ride down the seawall and go to the pleasure pier and play some games there. Then later on we’d go get some BBQ from one of my favorite spots, Pit-Stop BBQ or Chinese from Fortune in Texas City. Then we’d go up to Houston and we’d go to one of the many museums, i.e, The museum of natural science, the art museum, Hopefully catch a rockets or astros game. Then we’d go to one of my fave clubs, Cle, Heart, Bottled Blonde.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Nadia Almualem, Cheyenne Chancellor, Jadyn Sharp, Athena Anderson…. they are some models that have truly become good friends. We look out for each other and help each others out.
