We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Newton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When starting my business, I wanted to create a long-lasting, timeless brand. My goal was to create healthy generational habits for my family, freedom of time, and more resources to help others. I knew I could not achieve that goal while working my corporate job, so I took a leap of faith and left.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ashley Newton and Co. is a luxury brand that assists aspiring entrepreneurs and individuals in ministry in finding and building upon their purpose. What sets us apart is our aim to redefine purpose and societal norms, especially in women. We don’t focus on the passions and business ideas first. We work from the inside out, forcing our clients to find out who they are first and what their purpose is, and then focus on business. In doing this, our clients leave knowing their “why” and how to maximize their creativity and strategy best. Right now, I am most excited about writing my first book, which will debut by the end of 2021.

Getting to where I am today was, and still is, a work in progress. There is always something to learn and tweak; there is never a dull moment. Working smarter, not harder, and focusing on just a couple of things at once helped me immensely with getting where I am in this moment. Overcoming challenges is a case-by-case, one day at a time kind of deal. You definitely want to be prepared for hiccups, but you do not want to go through life afraid of what will happen next. That will only diminish your ability to take risky leaps.

The biggest lesson I have learned is to do it scared. Prep and take the step, even while you are afraid. No influential person lived inside of a box; they did things that made them look crazy. The worst thing you can do for yourself, your family, and your supporters is give up because of fear.

When all is said and done, I want my brand to stand the test of time and carry on many generations. I want it to exude freedom, luxury, timelessness, and class. I want all involved with the brand to be powerhouses and raise up generations to do the same.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Columbus, Ohio and there are so many things to do. If they arrived on a Friday, I would first take them for a chill night at Easton Town Center; maybe Pins & Mechanical. If it is Saturday during football season, we’re definitely catching an Ohio State football game (O-H!) Sunday we’re going to church and finding a new place to eat downtown. During the week, we’re walking some of the many trails, eating acai bowls at Vitality Bowls, having happy hour at a least one rooftop bar (RH rooftop is my fav!), and checking out the many small communities in Columbus. One of my favs is German Village, which has a must try restaurant called Lindey’s. I wouldn’t be me without a spa visit, so we’re relaxing before the week is over with a massage, facial, and mani/pedi.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God of course! He has stretched me during this season of my life and it has allowed me to take risks and develop my brand more efficiently. He has also placed some amazing family in my life that have been supportive in my goals; my parents, brother, children, and partner.
