Meet Ashley Schauffler | Owner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Schauffler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Before I ever started my business, I was a high school floral design teacher. I absolutely loved it—teaching students how to express themselves through flowers, watching them build confidence in their creativity—it was incredibly fulfilling. But outside of the classroom, I started getting requests to do wedding flowers for friends and people in the community. What started as a side hobby quickly became something I genuinely looked forward to. There’s something really special about being invited into such a personal part of someone’s wedding day, and I realized how much joy I found in that experience.
After a few of those weddings, my family started encouraging me to take it more seriously. That’s when Arlene Rose Designs was born.
When it came time to name the business, I didn’t want to just choose something trendy or generic—I wanted the name to mean something. I thought about the women who inspired me, and my grandmother Arlene came to mind right away. She was the kind of person who put others first, who believed in the power of kindness and service, and who taught me so much about family, hard work, and showing up for people. Naming the business after her felt like the perfect way to honor her and ground the business in values that truly matter.
So for me, Arlene Rose Designs isn’t just a floral business—it’s a tribute to creativity, connection, and compassion. I get to help couples bring their vision to life on one of the most important days of their lives, and I do it with the same heart and care my grandma showed to everyone she met. That’s how it all started, and it’s what continues to drive me every day.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Floral design has always been more than just arranging flowers for me—it’s about telling a story, evoking emotion, and being part of some of life’s most meaningful moments. At Arlene Rose Designs, we specialize in wedding florals that are deeply personal, intentional, and designed to reflect the couple’s unique love story. I like to say we don’t just make arrangements—we help create memories.
What sets us apart is the heart behind what we do. I truly care about each couple we work with. From the very first consultation to the final petal placed on the big day, I’m there to guide, support, and bring their vision to life with care and creativity. It’s not just a transaction—it’s a relationship, and that’s something I’m really proud of. I believe that kind of connection and authenticity shows in the work we do and the experience we provide.
I didn’t get here overnight, though. My journey started as a high school floral design teacher, and for years, I balanced my love for education with creating florals for weddings on the side. Eventually, with a lot of encouragement from my husband and family, I took the leap and started Arlene Rose Designs full time. It was exciting—but also really scary. Building a business from the ground up while still being a mom, wife, and everything in between wasn’t easy. There were late nights, learning curves, and moments of doubt, but I kept going because I knew I was doing what I loved and serving people in a meaningful way.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that staying true to your values will take you further than any trend. In an industry that’s constantly evolving, I’ve learned to embrace creativity but also stay grounded in who I am and why I started. I’ve also learned the power of asking for help, surrounding myself with a strong support system, and remembering that growth doesn’t always look like a straight line.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about Arlene Rose Designs, it’s that this brand is built on love—love for flowers, love for family, and love for the people we serve. Every arrangement carries a little piece of that story, and I’m so grateful to be able to do what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d want to give them a true taste of both the small-town life I live now and the hometown memories that shaped me. I live in Boling these days, and it’s one of those towns where community really means something. There’s pride here—everyone knows each other, supports each other, and genuinely cares. I’d want them to slow down, unplug, and just take it all in.
We’d start by hanging out on our property, which is really the heart of our daily life. My flower shop, Arlene Rose Designs, is actually right here on our land. It’s such a special thing to walk just steps from my home into this creative space where I get to design wedding florals and bring people’s visions to life. I’d love to give them a behind-the-scenes look—maybe even let them play with flowers or help prep for a wedding if one’s coming up.
And because we live out in the country, there’s always something peaceful and grounding to do. One of my favorite things is feeding the cows—yes, we’ve got cattle on the land, and it’s surprisingly therapeutic to just walk out there and toss some feed while watching the sun go down. I’d absolutely take them along for that. There’s something really special about showing someone that part of your world—where work and life and nature all blend together.
Of course, we’d have to eat at The Dawg House in Boling. It’s the kind of place that captures everything good about small-town dining—great food, friendly faces, and zero pretense. It’s one of those local gems that you’d never find unless someone brought you there—and I’d make sure they left with a full belly and a smile.
And then, I’d take them back to where it all started for me—Sugar Land. That’s where I grew up, and I still love visiting. We’d have to stop by Lupe Tortilla for their sizzling fajitas and maybe a margarita or two. It’s my all-time favorite place to eat, and every bite brings back good memories. Then we’d swing by Sweetwater Nails for a little pampering—because when your best friend visits, nails and catching up just go hand-in-hand.
We’d spend time walking through Sugar Land Town Square, shopping, sipping coffee, and reminiscing. Maybe even take a little day trip to explore nearby small towns—find an antique store, discover a hole-in-the-wall café, or just take in the scenery.
At the end of the week, I’d want them to feel what I feel every day—that life doesn’t have to be fast-paced to be fulfilling. There’s joy in simplicity, in community, and in doing what you love surrounded by the people and places that matter most. Whether we’re feeding cows, arranging flowers, or eating our way through some of my favorite spots, it would be a week full of memories, laughter, and all the little things that make life sweet.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely—there’s no way I could tell my story without giving a huge shoutout to my husband and my family. From day one, they’ve been my biggest cheerleaders, my sounding board, and my support system through every high and low.
My husband, especially, has been the steady anchor behind the scenes—encouraging me when I doubted myself, helping me navigate the business side of things, and constantly reminding me why I started Arlene Rose Designs in the first place. He believed in the vision even before I did, and his support has made it possible for me to chase this dream wholeheartedly.
And then there’s my family—whether it was helping me set up for early morning weddings, watching my kids while I worked late nights, or just being there to celebrate the little wins, they’ve shown up in a million ways that I’ll always be grateful for.
The love, encouragement, and belief they’ve poured into me are a huge part of why I’m where I am today. This journey hasn’t been a solo one, and I’m so thankful I get to share it with the people I love most.
