Meet Austin Zaine Walsh aka Ziggy Zaine | Independent Hip-Hop Artist & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Austin Zaine Walsh aka Ziggy Zaine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Austin Zaine Walsh, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I used to think for me to be productive I had to do every single task every day for both my work life and personal life and I would feel so drained by the end of the week, but over time I learned it’s better for me to schedule certain tasks on certain days so I don’t over work myself. The beginning of my weeks became strictly for personal errands and admin work for my business, the end of my weeks were focused on business projects and personal relationships.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always tried to set out to be a different type of artist from what the typical mainstream hip-hop artist is, I feel like there is a art to rap and I want people to see how I depict that art. There has been a lot of challenges on the road and I know there is more in the future, but like I always do, stay determined and focused on what I really want out of my career and future. With that mind set I always find a way to overcome any obstacle I come across. One thing I can say I’ve learned over time is patience, something you definitely need when running a business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Tuesday- Visit Houston Museum of Natural Science, Eat At Kura Revolving Sushi Bar Wednesday- Visit Space Center Houston, Eat At Go Shabu
Thursday- Hang Out At Cidercade, Eat At The Waffle Bus
Friday- Eat At Chama Gaucha, Party At Ayva Center
Saturday- Eat At Gen Korean BBQ, Bar Hop In MidTown

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t still be pursuing a career in the music business if it wasn’t for the support and encouragement from other people, not only friends and family but the few fans I have and other artist who believe in the vision and the craft.
